Hi guys. I have a "New Nintendo 3DS", and I use an R4i Plus 3DS/DS Cart to play DS games. I have had both for a while, and the Cart works great. Only issue I have is that it doesn't always show on 3DS home screen when Cart is inserted, have to remove and insert again, sometimes several times to get it to "connect" and detect. I have a few questions before proceeding:

1. Is this a known issue with R4i Plus 3DS/DS Carts?
2. Should I buy a new R4i Plus 3DS/DS Cart? If yes, where can I buy one online?
3. Is there another Cart you guys recommend that can play DS games, and has DS game cheat support?
4. If no to question 2, is there an 3DS homebrew app that can play DS games, and also be able to use cheats for DS games?

Thoughts and help greatly appreciated :)

Those cards aren't produced anymore during the start 2020. Back in the day, they were highly recommended flashcarts because they had a highly compatible Wood R4 kernel. The last batch of these carts cannot play NDS ROMs on their stock kernel, so I don't recommend them.

Its recommended to get something like an Ace3DS+ or R4i-SDHC timebombed clone.

Switch 2 will be your most powerful handheld (most likely) but Nintendo has always been a generation behind Sony/ Xbox, so doubt it will get the newest of games, n if it does, will be a watered down version, like Switch 1 got

Most powerful hardly series x specs will still crap on it

Most powerful handheld I said. I imagine it won't last long tho, ROG or Steamdeck 2 will prob overpower it. I will prob buy a switch2 tho, gotta have that Mariokart 9.

I kinda doubt that also Asus will keep releasing or if Xbox doesn't come out with some handheld by then

Og switch was kind of the first most powerful option for it's portability time

I'm thinking of selling my current drum machine, piano keyboard, and few synthesizers, and buy a new $699 drum machine/ workstation. Downsize but upgrade. But like any device, ill never get the money I paid into it. Hard to let stuff go for half what you paid.

@K3Nv3, just my opinion but more games on the platform does increase the odds of some of them being awesome
