I haven't seen a guide detailing how to do this so I thought this might help some people out.

    1. Download pokebank from the eshop (requires 9.4 emunand)
    2. restart and boot into classic mode
    3. insert retail card and deposit into pokebank
    4. restart and boot into gateway mode withdraw from pokebank
    5. ???
    6. profit

    Enjoy, friends.

I know you can't boot DS games on EmuNAND, but is Pokebank still able to read saves from Black/White cartridges in GW mode or Classic mode? I can't use Pokebank on SysNAND because it's formatted and I can't enter the eshop.

Yes I personally tested it tonight, I used Transporter under Gateway Classic mode to take Pokemon from my Black cart and it worked fine.

So would using Pokemon Bank bypass the encryption key mismatch that occurs on 6.X. retail games running in classic mode?

I have only ever attempted this on a 9.2 sysnand console running emunand 9.4 and the save was not corrupted, I wouldnt try it on a 4.x sysnand running 9.4 emunand though, I don't know if the save would corrupt or not.

If you're running a 9.2 sysNAND already than why would there even need to do the above procedure? Your 3DS loaded the correct keys at boot and saves made in Gateway would get fixed with the patching they do.
