OK guys, I've been out of the gaming scene for 6 months or so and am getting back in now.

I'm interested in chipping my Wii, I'm after something that is easy to install. Someone told me about a chip that doesn't even need soldering - is this true?

Also wondering how the homebrew scene's coming along - any more interesting apps out there? Any soft mods made to play backups? (I'm guessing not!)

Yes it's true. It's called the D2Pro v9 solderless or something like that.

Things have been quite hot since about a month ago. Search for SoftMii, RiskiiMod, and CIOSCORP for more information. With SoftMii you practically don't need a modchip anymore (but there are still some compatibility issues). And what with the release of Preloader and the impending release of CSSM (Custom Styled System Menu), things have never been better.

Yes there are some solderless chips out there (like FLATMII)
About the HB:
Softmii: (cIOSCorp = disc channel backups + Preloader = Brick protection and more)
Backup Launcher 0.3 gamma: load backups
Gamecube Backup launcher: Load gc backups (also multigame discs)
Healthii: custom health warning screen at startup

Also, Healthii only good on 3.2 at the mo, not 3.3?

you can downgrade using the softmii tutorial, i dont know if you need it for healthii, but you will need it for backup launcher
