Hacking M3DS Simply Game/Card manager (M3S Commander)

I've written a handy utility for managing your MicroSD card for the M3DS Simply. It started out as a R4 manager but as they're the same product it works the same for the M3DS Simply. I've altered the program so that it's split into the M3S Commander and the R4 Commander, one has a M3DS Simply skin and one has a R4 skin obviously.

If you're fed up of the hassles of trimming, copying, save game management etc. then give this a try.

Version 1.00 released! Yes the program is fully working! See the blog for details!

Fixes for this build
- Preview panel in skins tab works.
- Fixed a problem with the MavisXP settings where
it was starting 15 pages into the new files.
- Fixed the MicroSD Card Drive and Free Space text
fonts. Should look OK on other peoples machines and
not just mine (noticed it on the Moddz.com pic!)

Additions for this build
- You can now assign an image to a NDS file or
archive.
- The game name now shows just the game name.
The software house and cartridge publisher have
been moved to seperate labels.
- The skin preview box now informs you if files
are missing from the archive.
- You can now display a preview JPG file from
within a skin archive.
- The utils tab now displays the output paths on
the MicroSD card and details on how to change
them.

In what way with the games? Do you mean a seperate folder for each game and save? The best I could do for MP3s is to put in an option to create a folder of the same name off the mp3 directory.

does it include the ability to transform saves from R4 saves to other formats (say .dat)?
if not is it something that you can add?

It's not something I was thinking of adding as the program is a card manager for the R4/M3 Simply.

V1.01 released!

- Increased size of file list in Backups, DPGs and Skins tabs.
- Added ability to copy DPG archive.
- Fixed negative and false numbers in Free Space text.
- Changed all fonts to Arial and Comic to make it more standard.
- Now checks to see if the Backups, DPG, MP3 or Skins directories don't exist anymore and reports an error if they don't.
- Added rounded trimmed size
- If a backup has a picture set it now displays a thumbnail in the information panel.
- If you click on a file list box you can then use the up and down cursor keys to move through the list.
- Now supports PNG format for Backups images.
- Now shows space saved if rom is trimmed.

For the mo I prefer having the 2 seperate programs, it makes it easier for the installs. Eventually I'll have one program that you set the version when you install it.

Added V1.04 to the site, now has online capabilities. Will automatically download an image for a game if one exists on the server. Also you can now download and install updates from inside the program rather than from the the blog.

Also added 2 skins by TheNorwegianAgent added to the updates and pictures to the library for todays releases. Also for M3 Simply users V1.04 of the firmware.

Sorry to do this to you folks but have also added v1.05a to the blog. It adds the ability to download DPG files and Podcasts from the Updates tab. Attempting to download them without v1.05a will cause the program to crash! Have also added Wii Bomberman Land trailer and DS-Life Episode 14 podcast.

- Now checks to see if the game you’re adding exists on the card and if it does it prompts for confirmation.
- You can now select between different servers.
- It now displays proper names instead of file names in the Emulators, Applications, Homebrew Games and Updates tabs.
- When installing the backups list it now displays a status box with the information in it.
- Fixed a bug where it loaded translations into the wrong strings in the Applications Tab.
- Added ability to download DPG and MP3 files as update packs. Also installs them to the currently set directories in the respective tabs.
- Refined HTTP download procedure.
- Moved some things around.
- Removed some now redundant things.
- Now searches for and copies over gbaframe.bmp found in any skin archive. Does not work for themes.

V1.08 Released! Anyone who had a problem installing should find this version works fine (no more missing files errors!) as it now uses a proper installation routine! As far as I can tell it's now 100% bug-free so there won't be any releases for a little while.

- Put latest firmwares into the installation and update SNemulDS and ComicBookDS to latest versions.
- Fixed a problem with the window title.
- Program now uses an installation exe.
- Fixed a bug where firmwares weren't unpacked.
- Fixed a bug where if a NDS file had a corrupt header the program would crash.
- Fixed a really stupid bug where the splash screen would stay open if the first file in the backups list was a zip file that contained a file with the extension .nds that wasn't actually a backup.
- No longer crashes if you change the installation directory. Now takes whatever directory the exe was started in rather than the directory R4/M3S Commander was very first run in.
- Fixed bug that caused it to crash if no firmware, emulator, application or homebrew game, installation files were found.

As V2.0 of R4/M3S Commander is nearing a release I thought I'd release a final update of V1.XX which is now up to V1.09. The program now uses a release database to get the names of games and also uses the same engine as V2.0 for it's boxarts/screenshots so pictures should be up to date.
