As per Aurora Wright's request the old official discussion topic has been locked, but since we don't want to leave you our members without a topic to discuss Luma3DS this will from now on be the new discussion topic. Aurora Wright will obviously not be around to answer any of your questions, but other members of GBAtemp will be able to so please feel free to discuss and ask questions to your heart's content.

Original topic post:
This is the official thread for the Luma3DS "CFW". Please be civil, and read the wiki below before asking questions or contacting me privately. No "CFW wars" allowed on the thread.

Just leaving this here

So I'm going to ask for this thread to be closed, for assistance with Luma you can go to the Nintendo Homebrew Discord server: https://discord.gg/MjzatM8 , and if you need to contact me for any reason I'm Aurora Wright#9538 on Discord.
I'd like to thank everyone who expressed their support to me via private messages over time, sorry if I skimmed over some of those, I rarely open my DMs because of the large amount of support requests.
I'm also glad for those who were helped to be themselves by my blog post (I myself was by another blog post on this forum years ago, and I wanted to "give that back").
As for the reason, I'll just say that I don't like what this site has become recently. And no, it's not referring to anyone specific. Recent events and looking at the revised guidelines for reporting posts were what convinced me but I had been considering it for a while by now.

So what happened that the other thread had to be locked?
Aurora Wright no longer wants to be on GBAtemp and insisted that we close the topic. We initially didn't want to close it because we wanted for people to have a place to keep discussing Luma3DS even though she would no longer be around to answer any questions, but apparently that wasn't an option so this new topic was made.

Pressure was too much I guess.

Luma really is a good CFW; nonetheless the b9s mess and new features added all at the same time seemed to have caused a cfw war. A war within itself rather than against any other particular cfw. If this wasn't all we have had to deal with; it would of been quite enough but no...

We can also thank the bans by nintendo. This amplified the pressure deeply as well as put up even more help threads.

Overwhelmed by popularity and unpopularity all at once...

Well damn. Things that happens overnight, huh? Thanks for the heads up on this.

Occupying a 1st page reply.

Here are nightly builds:
7 --- 4b57af3 (2017-07-10 the last commit of Luma 7.1 on B9S 1.2x)
8 --- N/A (Please use official 8.1.1)
OLD --- 1d4245e (2017-05-18 the last usable commit for A9LH, Menuhax, MSET)
Use them at your own risk.

Luma 7 is Windows 7, stable but discontinued.
Luma 8 is Windows 10, better enhanced functions but more bugs.
Other continued CFWs are Linuxes. Need more to handle them.

It's in the last few pages or so in the original thread, posted by Aurora.

It's here:
It's not necessary to downgrade B9S. For now I'm maintaining the "legacy" branch on github which is basically 8.0 minus Rosalina (so all the improvements/new features brought by Rosalina are gone).
Here's a build of the latest commit https://workupload.com/file/d9JaET5

Just out of curiosity, but that build would still require B9S right?
Yes, still needs B9S.

Bad comparison. Luma 8 does not:
  • Force the UI to a maximum of 16 colors.
  • Add telemetry that reports everything you do back to the CFW authors.
  • Force a reboot while in the middle of a game due to "updates".

LOL. Don't know how nasty Windows 10 is. But both of them do have more bugs.
