Where exactly did you get this non sense that gateway is emunand only after 9.2? Its fine up till 11.2. Thats when the gateway team abandoned their program.
gateway mode always boots the emunand,
it will only try to boot sysnand if you don't make an emunand.
when arm9loader and b9s came out it changed this though you were still booting emunand until fw 11.2, your sysnand needed (preferably) to be on an older fw to run the payload to boot the gateway launcher, which then would boot your emunand so you can run newer games and go online....
even the original gateway user manual tells you to create an emunand!
my sysnand is on 11.12, gateway will only ever boot into my gw (11.13) emunand automatically.
here I am, about to dust off my 3ds coming here to check if it's worth switching to cfw from gateway and i run into this post .......
um this requires cfw.. so what's the point of gateway in this ?
It does not make any sense
They can't just be happy how much use they did get of their expensive flashcart so they need to franken-firmware their system to justify their purchase. (IMO)
1. drag and drop and no install of cia's
2. two sd slots (2x 256GB cards, space is not an issue anymore)
3.
I only paid $14.95 for my gateway card new ( https://www.axiogame.com/?product=gateway-3ds ) last year, with free shipping too! $15 is the same price for a regular nds flashcard (r4ds, acekard, etc) Quite expensive huh...not really
4. to allow people who did originally buy gateway to allow them to still use the card they paid way more than i did for it
5. everyone only hates gateway cause of the bricker.. but nobody remembers when dstt effectively did this same thing with fake dstt(i), not a console brick but bricking your flashcard is effectively the same on original nds(i)
6. it doesn't make sense to me to bash people who want to use gateway, i went from luma to soley using gateway, i find gateway mode is more stable and provides better support for older homebrew (less crashes and some stuff luma doesn't run properly...ntrcfw)
7. since roms are on red card, so it can played on any 3ds that will boot into gateway, if 3ds sd card is corrupted, i still have all my games
8. easy to use cheat system
luma3ds and gateway3ds literally both do the same exact thing, they are both CFW, you can run homebrew and roms, with gateway you get an extra sd slot, luma is open source and is still actively developed
this isn't a replacement to luma, its simply allows a 3ds to dual boot either into luma3ds or gateway3ds using b9s
it gives one the choice to either boot luma or a gateway card, it's very simple, people act like this is a gateway vs luma thread, it isn't, its a tutorial for those who want it, if you don't want it or don't own a gateway card then don't use it, don't bash someone else because they want to
another reason why I feel homebrew scene kinda phasing itself out slowly , people can't agree to disagree, it must be their way or the highway, there could have been better slot-1 cards for the 3ds, it's not super card or entirely gateways fault , back in the nds days, you wanted your card to do something you did it yourself, you didn't sit and bug r4,cyclops, supercard, or acekard about their cards and kernel updates/issues, most patches and fixes came from the scene itself (cheats, ysmenu, AP patches, etc) , nowadays everybody wants someone else to do it for them and do it for free....... now its all about how to pirate my game easier, rather than learning some software and hardware engineering and actually creating your own homebrew software, that's the point of homebrew exploits, to run homebrew, piracy is just a side effect of having homebrew code execution
also waiting 3-6 months for a kernel update is normal for active flash cards, this was the same on all nds flash cards, it is not new
i've been using this for almost a year no issue, i went from solely using luma to really just using gateway, its hilarious because everybody dick rode gateway when they first released, only when they pulled a dstt, then everyone became salty, gateway brick isn't even an issue anymore, with ntrboot, it was only an issue back then becuase the 3ds wasn't fully understood then and ntrboot wasn't known, now it is....
this thread didn't get over 10,000 views for no reason (surprised me too)
