Hello, a few weeks ago I installed v16.2.2 of twilight menu into my flashcart (r4isdhc dot com), which also had ysmenu installed years ago. Everything seemed to be working fine, I messed with the settings a bit and then didn't touch it again until today. I'm pretty sure I didn't do the "Autobooting" step from the instructions, so the last time I used it I had to manually get into twilight menu from ysmenu, but for some reason today the last game I played simply opened automatically as soon as I entered ysmenu, without letting me choose. I'm not sure how this happened, I thought I hadn't touched the "Last played ROM on startup" setting, plus like I said it's opening the game from ysmenu, not from twilight. I tried deleting all of the twilight related files but the issue persists. I then reinstalled twilight into the flashcart using version 16.3.0 and made sure the last played rom setting was off, but that didn't change anything. For now the workarounds I discovered are to either remove the game from the flashcart, or hold down B while booting ysmenu, both of these let me see the menu and choose games manually like before. Any idea why this is happening?

Your flashcard is set to autoboot YSMenu, which in turn, runs your last-run game.
You need to set up autoboot to TWLMenu++, if you want to choose a game.

Did you already tried the Autoboot Option/Files for TWiLight ? :)

Right, but what I don't understand is that ysmenu had never automatically ran my last run game before, it only started happening after installing twilight menu. Does that have anything to do with twilight or is it just coincidence?

It's caused by launching a game in TWiLight Menu++. If it's not that, then idk.
Is the widescreen process update on github? I dont Need to Rename it?

Just leave the TwlBg.cxi in luma modules?
Yes.

Is it normal that all DSi Games, Cart games, R4, everthing running wide? Not 16:10 but in 4:3 expanded.

Also, How can I load the Slot-1 games feom my R4 from the TWLightMenu, I enable the slot 1 in options, but I dont see where 8 change between the 3ds SD and the Slot-1 SD. Pressing Select takes me to the DS like menu. And I can select the R4, but not loading the games like nds_bootstrap to get the widescreen and my saves games. How do I do this?, or it is possible?

It is currently normal for everything to be stretched, if you set up widescreen.

To see the flashcard contents, launch your flashcard using TWiLight Menu++, then start TWiLight Menu++ on it (recommended to have the flashcard autoboot it though), and then hold SELECT, and press either UP or DOWN.

I have it up and running on my 2ds xl. It's awesome. Except for a couple of things. First, is it possible to have save states for games? NDS flash cards have save states. So why not this?

Secondly, when you're playing a DS game and you want to switch to another game, do you always have to go all the way back out to the 3DS main menu by pressing the home button? There's no quicker way to switch games?

Not all flashcarts have real time saves. The ones that do are likely employing a hardware solution.

Your second question is answered in the first post:

With CFW: DS ROMs (on SD)/carts
  • L+R+DOWN+B for 2 seconds: Return to TWiLight Menu++
    (If using an O3DS, then it does not work on all models)

Hi,

Just downloaded this on a new 2ds xl and everything seems to work with the exception of being able to use AKmenus. When I scroll through the options in the twilight menu settings, I have different theme types except for the akmenu options. I looked into the sdcard on my computer and I have akmenus downloaded (which i did through the updater cia) so I'm not sure why I don't have the option to select them. Any ideas?

Acekard/Wood theme is temporarily disabled, due to bugs that would corrupt the SD card.

Hello.

Having some troubles with the save data, hope you can help me out.

My version of TM++ is v16.3.0 (the lastest, i think). The problem is my DSi didn't read the save data from my old DS Lite. Yes, I do put the save data in the Saves Folder, pretty sure that the Rom and the Save have the same name.

One more thing, as I notice, my DSi DID NOT create any new Save file, seem like it's using the very Save file which I moved from my DS but can't read the data in the file.

And here is my nds_bootstrap.ini

[NDS-BOOTSTRAP]
DEBUG = 0
LOGGING = 0
ROMREAD_LED = 0
LOADING_SCREEN = 1
CONSOLE_MODEL = 0
NDS_PATH = sd:/roms/nds/6073 - Pokemon Conquest (Europe) (NDSi Enhanced) .nds
SAV_PATH = sd:/roms/nds/saves/6073 - Pokemon Conquest (Europe) (NDSi Enhanced) .sav
RAM_DRIVE_PATH = sd:/null.img

BOOST_VRAM = 0
DONOR_SDK_VER = 5
GAME_SOFT_RESET = 0

PATCH_MPU_SIZE = 0
CARDENGINE_CACHED = 1

PRECISE_VOLUME_CONTROL = 0

Does the same issue happen with other games?

    yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    @TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    @Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    @TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

    be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    @Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
    @The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
