So is IOS56 still the recommended base IOS to use?

Yes, 56 will be your main one aside a few games that may require 58

im using fat32 and 21 with base 56 and i play animal crossing everyday and i never noticed any lag with the controls. I also havent experianced any of the other problems people said the had with base 56 like smash bros pause menu or rock band 3 lag.
The controller lag in Animal Crossing: City Folk is minimal; my guess is it was there and you just didn't notice. In fact, I didn't notice it until someone else who has a character in my town brought it up. If you go into your inventory and start moving items around, you will most likely notice a slight stutter every now and then when using Waninkoko's cIOS, rev20 or rev21, regardless of the base IOS. This does not occur with Hermes' cIOS. I have yet to test this using a FAT32 device, but I do not think it will make any difference. I will try it tomorrow.

Like you, I also have not noticed any problems with Super Smash Bros. Brawl when using rev20 or rev21 with base 56.

Nope no lag ever... Think it's your drive dude.
I just used a FAT32 partition, and all my controller lag problems have gone away. Thank you very much for clearing this up for me.

No problem!

so what rev21 bases should I make available in ModMii?

base 56 for sure, but what about...
  • 36? someone claimed this was the only base somewhat working with triiforce
  • 37? is there anything 37 can play that 56 cannot?
  • 57? black ops, but ModMii already has a lot of base 57 cIOSs that work with black ops...
  • 58? its new...

What is the best for wiiware/vc games using triiforce if that works now in rev21?

and does it work well with everything?

I vote for base 57 for the totally selfish reason of that I use it myself, well with rev20b at least. Until more brave souls report their results with rev21, I'm sitting on the sidelines for once...drinking special eggnog

Here are my test result:
unpatched Metroid Prime Trilogy [PAL]
IOS reload block set to no - wii restarts after selecting game and difficulty
IOS reload block set to method 1 - won't load afte selecting game and difficulty
IOS reload block set to method 2 - 002 error

WiiPower:
That's what i feared to happen. Waninkoko did not implement basic 002 error fixing in the cIOS when blocking the IOS Reload, which i suggested him like 10 times.

That's NOT the way to load MPT. LOL
Works fine here since rev 17

He knows what he is doing. With the cIOS alone, you can't get MPT to work the way it is supposed to. You can use alt .dol loading, or replace the game IOS with a cIOS, but the cIOS should be able to get the game to fully work(when using a backup disc). Which it doesn't because there's 002 fix in the cIOS.

I'd say add IOS58, since there's obvious emphasis on it for this release...

Maybe you should wait for the USB loaders to update, and we can see what IOS58 base can bring.

I've already done 90% of the work to add rev 21 support to ModMii, but after speaking with DeadlyFoez I've decided to wait at least a few weeks to see if rev21 is a success or if wanin will be forced to release rev21b for bug fixes or w/e

in the meantime, I'd still like to hear what bases ppl think should be supported, for sure ModMii will support 56 and 57, but we'll see what benefits the other bases bring once more ppl have managed to do some testing

Erm...if that was on this forum, it's probably me. If so...that's not what I said. I only noted that 36 seems to give better results than 56. I haven't tested all base IOS'es, so other base IOS'es may work equally well...or even better.

I couldn't agree more... With that said, for the people who have to have the latest and greatest and want to download all the possible rev21 wads for 249 and 250 (installed with the latest installer and then dumped with bluedump), hit up the Modify ANY Wii sticky, follow the links, and grab the cios21.zip and enjoy... As with ModMii, the guide won't be updated until after rev21 has been through the wringer, homebrew is updated for the new improvements and is proven stable enough for the average user.

Ok I did a quick test making a WBFS folder on my FAT32 usb stick and all the issues with dropping ingredients in cooking mama are gone using rev21, so it looks like from r20 something went wrong with the WBFS functionality?

so to sum up the issues i was having

On r20 and r21 using WBFS drive cooking mama doesnt work correctly (ingredients randomly dropped)
On r19 using a WBFS drive cooking mama works correctly
On r20 and r21 using FAT32 drive (with WBFS folder and .wbfs files) cooking mama works correctly

Anyway, easy fix is to redo the drive in FAT32 and transfer the games to that, but i thought i should still post these finding for others

Am I the only person who cant get IOS56 to work? Many people claim, that this is the "ultimately" IOS base, but I never got that working no matter which loader I try. It just gives me instant freezes.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
