If you're a Call of Duty fan living in Germany, prepare for censorship. PCGames.de (via The Big Download) is reporting that the upcoming Black Ops will ship with content cuts.

Steam is also clamping down on those who might want to circumvent the cuts by downloading an international version. Anyone who purchases Black Ops at retail or online will have to get their version authorized, and Steam will not activate versions from the US or UK.

However, an Activision rep has confirmed that German players will be able to purcahse the Austrian version. It is not clear at this time whether it will share the cuts found in the German version (via Joystiq).

Black Ops will be out November 9.

I'm still wondering what's gonna get cut. I don't know how much they cut from MW2 (especially with the controversy in the shooting innocent people thing) but I'm not a fan of major game censorship. Well, most gamers aren't. Sorry German Tempers.

If any other country is likely to share the cuts, it's Australia. Censorship can be a bit extreme there, sometimes.

I'm sure the people of Austria will keep that in mind.

Ah read too quickly, lol.

Never understood censorship, personally. Most of Europe already gets ripped off financially on games compared to North America; stripping (even the most marginal) content at the same time seems almost criminal.

Question though, why does Germany implement censored version of shooter games like these?

What's wrong with it?

It's a large image itself, but it's resized automatically.
Your browser still needs to download the entire image's data though.
I know.

Whoopsie, I misread that at first, too.

However, I still won't be surprised if Australia gets the game censored, too. The gamers down under have it pretty rough when it comes to game bans.

  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma

  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:

  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select

  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
