They conflict over reading sd:/retroarch/retroarch.cfg when starting up.
Any way of avoiding this?

I've done that and it's very good, however, Tyrquake on it doesn't work. None of the controls are mapped and it's unclear what to do.Don't use the official retroarch for Wii but RA-hexaeco which uses a different path for its data, /private.

Tyrquake has much higher compatibility with Quake 1 mods.Use quakegx
Frustratingly, Wii Retroarch and Wii U Retroarch run different cores, plus some are stable on one but not the other. MGBA is stable on Wii U but crash prone on Wii, Fuse is fine on Wii but crashes on Wii U. Tyrquake reports an error on Wii U as soon as you try to start a game. Can I ask why you have both on the same SD card? Do you share SD cards between your Wii U and Wii? Or do you use both the Wii U Retroarch and vWii retroarch on the same system? If that is the case, is there a reason to do that? Does vWii Retroarch do something Wii U Retroarch doesn't?
