If you follow the guide step by step, nothing will brick, I did it with the older and "risky" guide and I end up fine
Thats not true at all tbh. When flashing emuNAND to sysNAND it CAN brick....

look it how clean it looks too.

it looks really really good. I would probably end up setting it over. There is a 99% chance I wouldn't brick it because I read the instructions over and over,I almost want to send it just to get it done.

Damn that looks nice. As if the 3DS was produced like that

Does it really take that long?Or are the guides just not clear enough and they take alot of rereading to make sure you dont mess anything up.
It already takes a long time due to dumping stuff. Then of course, it can also take longer if you read more attentively or not.

I like to tinker and have soldering skills, I just don't have a second microSD to SD adapter to spare atm, also, I like having my games in my GW cart and don't like installing big cias that much...
Wish a got a SKY3DS+ instead then, haha.

If there's a solution one day to use my gw cart after booting a9lh, I'll definitely get a9lh up and running on my n3ds :)
(might even get my OTP before then, if I'm bored and flash my 9.0 sysnand afterwards)

K9LHax is worth it. I have been very lucky with 3ds modding. I've downgraded my system twice, downgraded 2 other systems, and k9lhaxed mine. Will do k9lh on one of the other systems next week (friend's).
Who has a tutorial on hardmodding o3dsxls that is fairly recent?

The boot time and boot rate are also even better arguments if you often play with friends who didn't hack their 3DS. They boot in 8 normal seconds, and if you use menuhax, you're the one who's annoying everyone by booting in 20 seconds, or even 55 if it froze in the middle of the process.
Or even without considering the boot time and rate, if you don't want people to know your 3DS is hacked, a9lh (without screen init) is also the way to go.
I second this. Ofc two of them have dged 3ds's. One has cfw set up, while one has only dged. He doesn't have a computer at home tho.

i tried A9LH , and i was amazed by the speed and 100% boot rate
but, it didn't feel right for me.
i already got the OTP files , maybe i'll return to use it and other time
but until then , menuhax is good for me

Right now, the only things keeping me on MenuHax are:
1) no built-in region patches in Cakes and Rei/AuRei (half of my foreign .CIAs aren't region-patched, and I don't want to have to start NTR CFW every time and/or bother with figuring out which ones need to be recompiled)
2) no failsafe boot (I want the ability to clean-boot my 3DS when the SD is removed)
3) installation risk (I already have a functioning MenuHax installation, so I have no immediate need to switch over)

For now, I'm just sticking to my rxTools on my n3DS. I don't think I'll be willing to switch over until I can have a sysNAND CFW that is low-risk, easily reversible, and region-unlocked.

I am wondering, if i go to A9LH can I backup my emunand and re-flash it in the end? Or is it a "Fresh start" kinda thing?

It took me 3-ish hours. I wanted to make sure I read EVERYTHING right. I don't have a hard mod at all. I only had to get Otp and a9lh as I already had a CFW.

What made it not feel right? The thing that most bothers me is that the console won't boot without an sd card.

I could never go back to menuhax after using A9LH. My boyfriend still has menuhax installed on his 3DS and every time I have to mess with it, it's just painful. The bootrate sucks, the boot time takes forever, it's just not fun.

I have like 90%(?) boot rate I'd say. But, the boot rate, and fast boot up times don't really entice me, because I don't shut my 3DS down really, I always sleep mode it.

I'll probably get A9LH when it's more streamlined and has more advantages.

Can Decrypt9 be patched with a new system update?

With rxtools and emunand you dont need to worry if you update because you can just restore the emunand, but with this metod you need to be aware of new updates right?

Techncally, D9 was patched after 9.2 which is why you can only boot it with 9.0 FIRM. And you can restore the emunand with a9lh.
