What is the best way to ftp something to my n3dsxl? I tried using microsd management but my pc wouldn't connect to it nor would it receive a connection to my 3ds. I tried using ftpd but I have no clue how it works or how to connect to it through my pc it doesn't want to connect to the 3ds connection refused.

On b9s with luma on latest fw.

Use the homebrew application ftpd. install and launch ftpd app on your console. Then use any FTP Software such as FileZilla on you PC to connect to the 3DS over wifi. Using the ip address shown on the top screnn of your console to browse files and folders on the consoles MicroSD card.

Alternatively you can use the homebrew app 3DShell a multi purpose file manager for the Nintendo 3DS with built in FTP to transfer and manage files on your console.

That's the problem, it doesn't work for me when I try to connect to my 3ds, it says the connection was refused on my pc.

Are your 3DS and computer on the same WiFi network? Or maybe there's something wrong with your internet connection - something needs to be configured differently

My pc is hooked up via Ethernet and the 3ds is on the wifi could that be it?

No. My setup is the same. PC is wired to my wireless broadband router/access point and console to same network wirelessly.

Yeah try connecting your pc to the WiFi network that the 3DS is on.

Correct. Make sure the wireless access point/router that console is connected is on the same network as the PC is connected to. Then it should work.

Try the alternative, 3DShell (3ds) and WinSCP (windows).
Ignore the parts that don't apply to you; focus on steps 13-18.

***

There's also the (unsecured) SMB wireless transfer with microSD Management (3ds) and muCommander (windows).

Hey, guys think I brick my 3ds, I updated the system to the newest one since I haven't touched it in a year or so and just realize I got luma 9.0 and godmode9 v1.5.1 on the device after pressing update, I tried to add the newest boot.firm into my sd card(brand new SD card so everything is gone) but it doesn't seems to work since it still show "AN ERROR HAS OCCURED FAILED TO APPLY 1 FIRM PATCH(S)". Currently, i don't have any backup of my data but i can go to the luma setting by holding select and it shows luma 3ds v9.0 configuration.

currently, I'm trying to follow these step by @TurdPooCharger:

    • Copy everything off your SD card onto a computer.
    • Reformat the SD card with MiniTool Partition Wizard (free edition) with these settings:
      • Format: FAT32
      • Cluster Size: 32 KB
      • Partition: Primary
      • Disk: MBR
MiniTool Partition Wizard Software Tutorial Guide
      1. Delete Partition
      2. Initialize to MBR Disk -or- Convert GPT to MBR Disk (if it's in GPT Disk)
      3. Rebuild MBR
      4. Create a New Partition [ Create as: Primary | File System: FAT32 | Cluster Size: 32 KB ]
    • Full Write + Verify the empty card in H2testw. Do not skip this step.
    • If the card passes the test, delete the *.h2w test files.
      • If the card failed hardware inspection, replace it and go back to steps 1 or 2.
    • Download the CFW starter kit found here. Extract the files onto the root of SD card.
      • Do not add back your main setup at this moment.
    • Insert the SD card into the 3DS, turn on the system, and hold the (SELECT) button.
    • You should see Luma3DS v9.1 configuration. If you do, use these settings:
      • luma_config.png
hoping that step will fix it but i'm not too sure if it will

Yeah it seems to work now thanks @TurdPooCharger, i just need to update the luma3ds to 10.1 probably, do i also need to update my 3ds to the latest firmware now?

@decade5e, if you're using that CFW starter kit,
  1. Update to the latest boot9strap v1.3 with SafeB9SInstaller.
  2. Install CTRNAND Luma3DS v9.1 (or newer) so the 3DS system can boot without an SD card.
  3. Update to the latest 3DS firmware 11.13.0-45 in System Settings or Recovery Mode.
  4. Backup the SysNAND *.bin image for safe keeping if you haven't made one before.

Ok so looking for some help after 2 days of trying a bunch of stuff, this is my last try before building new micro sd card
I followed /3ds.hacks.guide/ to the T, everything went flawlessly on my 64gb installlation
start installing games, play a few, everything still works perfect, quickly realize I want more space. I upgrade to a new micro SD card, format fat32, copy 64gb micro sd card contents to windows desktop. copy content onto new card (as everyone says to do)
THIS is where my trouble begins (mind you at any point I can slap 64gb card in and everything works fine)
SO when i boot 3ds with 256gb card i get '1blue light flash' no boot,
- I can boot into Lumas3DS menu with the SD card in
- I can't boot godmode9 with the SD card in
- I can boot with no SD card and pop it in and on homescreen all the icons of installs are there
and 1/2 work fine and other 1/2 blank top screen and error if i try to boot (FBI and HomebrewLauncher both do not work but have icons on home screen nothing on top screen)

I have reformatted the 256gb card multiple times, copied 64gb (working still) onto PC twice now and attempted to copy contents 6 times, 4 times w/ windows and twice with teracopy.

The result is always the same, with the same apps being effected. (im moving about 57gb of data on xfer)

CAN ANYONE offer some insight maybe something I missed? everyone seems to make it seem like the xfer is as simple as format fat32 and copy contents but obviously it isn't working for me and still works on my original SD card I installed CFW with. It took me almost 10h+ to get the 64gb card where its at and id love to not start from scratch and build from there on my new card.

ONCE again any help is welcomed. ty for your time.

Test the 256GB card with H2testw, it sounds fake or faulty. https://3ds.guide/h2testw-(windows)

That was with everything deleted from the sd? That looks like quite the fake card with that much of a error with the test results.

Avoid ebay and Amazon third party sellers, stick to brick and mortar stores if you can. Or very well known and established online stores.

Absolutely, lesson learned, just for everyone to know I did purchase this on a black Friday Amazon deal for 'Samsung 256gb 100mb/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO' sold by 'Amazon.xxx Services, inc' 25.99 was pretty hard deal to pass up, reviews seemed goon until after I went back and realized they lump all storage size into same reviews so review pool is 4gb cards to 500gb+. As soon as I searched 256gb in reviews they almost all came back negative as defective or fake.

I initiated the return as soon as i saw the bad results. Thanks again for the insight! thanks again to the community as a whole have been using this site for years and never posted a question was always able to find the answers lol (my wii u especially thanks gbatemp!)

I was playing mother 3 on mGBA and tried to save which crashed the game, and my 2DS XL wanted to update previously, so it did and now it won't turn on, is there anything I can do to fix it?
