Hacking 3ds noob here, need help plz

So basically my gf found her modded new nintendo 3ds XL she had 4 years ago, and sadly upon opening it, the games she and I played are gone, so are the fbi and homebrew app in the homescreen. So in the end she said if I can fix it or get it working, it’s mine.

Anyway I did a little bit of learning and found out how to get fbi running again, I tried doing the down, left button, and select thing to open the Rosalina menu but it won’t work, and wont open, I did a little bit of searching and found out it might be because the luma3ds software thingy (sorry still new to this) might not be up to date. I did the select + power to see its version, aaaaaand it’s 7.01, and with a little bit of more searching, they said I said I had to update from a9lh to bs9, buuuuuutt….. They also said not to update not to update the system software, idk the sys version now, but I know it probably got updated since rn its on ver 11.13.0.

So the question is, can I still update the lima3ds even with the updated sys software, and If I can how? Oh and feel free to help with going forward after this. All I know is the I have to update this, then get fbi and homebrew running, then put some games on the sd card, Idk why but fbi is still on the sd card’s files, is that ok? Feel free to ask more info. Thanks in advance.

Worst thing that can happen on updating official software before Luma3DS is not booting because of incompatibility. The less complex, older versions of Luma3DS often work though.
Please check the (empty) SD with h2testw or F3 before trusting it.

Store a NAND image on multiple media.

Hello, so I recently made a post here, about updating my 3ds from a9lh to b9s, just wanted to ask, since I did everything on the 3ds hacks guide. Before I insert this sd card back, they had a screenshot of how the folder should look like before putting the sd card back in my 3ds. But I when I looked at my folder, it had some extra files in, some screenshots, some, games and previous software things, just wanted to ask, should I delete eveything not included in the screenshot or is it fine as is?

The bottom one is mine, please let me know what to delete.
