While trying to delete a title from FBI i wrongly delete one title named as 0004000E. Cannot remember the whole title but it was green colored and the bottom of the green colored titles just above the red title named ???.
Did i delete something important or do we even know what did i deleted ?
Thanks in advance.

Can someone else has similar title at same location ? I am really scared that i f*cked up something really bad. =)

See here: [What do the different colors mean in FBI]
If it was a green title it was a game/update/homebrew app on the SD→ Should not be a problem.
Please create backups of all important data from time to time – especially before deleting stuff with FBI. Deleting NAND installed titles is a bad idea. They may not have a name but only numbers… this is not a reason to delete them. If you want to know what each title is: [3dbrew, title list]
  • Keep a NAND image at multiple locations→Can save your console in case of really bad corruption and/or user error (we all make mistakes!)
    • Restoring a NAND image is not a thing to do frivolously. If you have any bad trouble describe your problem before doing anything.
  • A backup of your complete SD is also nice→ Can save a lot of time in case of SD failure
  • Lastly: Installed games can be replaced, a failing 3DS can be replaced, your game progress NOT.
    • Use Checkpoint and/or JKSM to get decrypted backups of your saves (and store them on several different storage media).

If you do all this you can be pretty sure you won't permanently lose anything in case of failing devices, software error or even your own mistakes.

Hi there.
I'm willing to do something a bit weird.
I would like to transfer a save file (eshop game) from a CFW 2DS to an unmodified 2DS (without modifying it. This way I can give my game saves to a friend that does not want to mod his 2DS).
Thanks to people here, it seems possible by chainloading luma via a ntr flashcart (with ntrboot) on the unmodified 3DS (in order to install JKS and write the save game to the unmodified 2DS). This way once rebooted the 2DS would still be unmodified and the saves would still be there.

Have anyone ever done this (or does a guide exists) ? Would R4i-B9S do the trick ?

Ok so I bought this not for resale cartridge that let's me legally give me a Celebi in ds games (D/P, HG/SS) and I have never updated my ds light but haven't updated my Majora's Mask 3DS been years send with my Ocarina of Time 3DS so I was wondering if I can use one of my hacked 3ds with the cartridge and a leget copy of Pokémon soul silver (or maybe my backup with r4). I know it says I need to be like online for it to work but I never used wifi on any of them 3ds consoles (besides when I was using freeshop). So is it possible for me to use my not for resale Pokémon cartridge on my modded 3ds? Or would I need to update my cfw to do so?

Nothing weird here. I’ve done this before. All you need on the target 2DS’ SD card is:
SD:/boot.firm (Luma3DS)
SD:/boot.3dsx (Homebrew Launcher)
SD:/3ds/checkpoint.3dsx and/or SD:/3ds/jksm.3dsx
and your – of course – your saves from the source console.
  • Perform ntrboot as usual. If you did it correctly you will be greeted with the Luma3DS configuration screen. Just press (Start). The 2DS will temporary load CFW – gone after reboot, nothing will be written to the NAND.
  • Start Homebrew Launcher with Rosalina injection.
  • Use the save manager(s).
If you are not VERY short on money, I recommend the R4i Gold 3DS Plus with the internal switch for ntrboot-mode/DS-games-mode.

You mentioned installing a save manager… In theory installing a save manager with FBI on the unmodified console is possible. However, this would be rendered unusable after reboot because the software has no valid/legit ticket. So do not do this.

Thanks a lot. An answer like that with links is VERY useful.
I'm quite new to 3DS modding. I just modded my 2DS using the 3ds.guide (marvelous) website a few weeks ago.
A few (more) noob questions:
- I wanted to install JKSM on the temporary luma booted 2DS in order to write my save to my friend's 2DS. It's not a problem if JKSM is not avaiable after reboot. But when I read your post, I suspect that it's possible to use JKSM without installing it. Am I right ?
- Concerning the R4i, I read that the Gold plus is compatible with firmware version up to 11.9, and my friend have latest firemware (11.10 if I'm correct). Would it still work ? Or is it better to buy the R4i-B9S instead ?
- Why did you say "if you are not very short on money" ? You mean it's possible to do that without a flashcart (and without permanently install stuff on target 2DS) ? I want to use the best and safest method. I don't care about spending 20-30 euro on a flashcart as long as I can do my save transfer :)

BTW, a few more infos:
- the save game is a eshop game
- the target 2DS is not from the same region (don't know if that matter)

Again, thanks for you help :)

@Roxxxance you can load homebrew on his console and restore the save file that way. No need to hack it. Simpler too assuming you don't have a compatible r4 card lying around and would have to buy one. Installing a cia on his machine may flag it for banning whereas doing it just through homebrew will not (using Luma temporarily and loading JKSM through Rosalina is fine, it is just installing anything that could be bad)

The consoles being different regions will probably cause you issues, may not work for you (unless your game is the same region as his console).

Thanks. I've already installed a CIA from the other region for that game and transfered my save on it, so it should be OK.
So I need a flashcart in order to perform a temporary boot on the unmodified 2DS. Which one is the best, R4i Gold 3DS Plus or R4i B9S ?

You don't need to use a flashcart. Just use userland homebrew. Eg follow steps for installing CFW by homebrew but don't actually install it - once you have access to homebrew, run JKSM to restore the save file. You can use a flashcart if you want, eg if you wanted one anyway to play DS games with you might as well. But otherwise you can save your $. Oh and yes I am pretty sure the R4i Gold is the most straightforward and easy to use, plus good for DS games, but I'm not 100% certain - check @TurdPooCharger's sig for a list of recommended ones and where to buy them

Thanks. I will order one as it seems easier with a flashcart.

Userland homebrew is enough to start JKSM (on latest firmware: Seedminer → PicHaxx). My tests with that are fairly limited (because only one of my systems has userland only homebrew – all other Luma or no homebrew at all)

I was able to backup and restore the save from Mario Kart 7 via Soundhax (“target a title”). There is no other software on this N3DS besides Tomodachi Welcome or something like that – preinstalled test version. However this was enough to see a big problem with running JKSM via *hax:

No access to the NAND is possible – this means all saves of games using the Anti Savegame Restore “feature” can’t be processed in *hax mode.

JKSM also crashed twice during the tests with Soundhax.

A flashcart is the better way in my opinion.

Thanks for the advice. I have to admit that I did not understand everything (but I guess I got it).
I should have my flashcart on monday, I'll post the result.

So the process would be:
- export save on modded 2DS using JKS and copy those saves on the unmodded 2DS SD card
- On unmodded 2DS SD card, copy:
boot.firm (Luma3DS)
boot.3dsx (Homebrew Launcher)
3ds/jksm.3dsx (JKSM)
- boot unmodded 2DS while flashcart is inserted
- not sure what happen from here, but I guess R4i Gold 3DS Plus will do a ntrboot
- load Luma3DS from the ntrboot menu
- load Homebrew Launcher from Luma3DS menu
- load JKSM from the Homebrew Launcher menu
- import save
- reboot

Am I right ?

You slide the sleep switch to the right on the unmodded, then hold ABXY, and then start holding power.

Can I use this not for resale distribution cartridge on my hacked 3ds? Like do I need to be on the latest cfw so I can be online locally to use it? I wanted it for my Pokémon Soul silver (like I don't know if if it would work with rom like my r4 on my 3ds but I do own the game too).

Also why doesn't Pokémon Soul silver work with r4 gold pro? I load it and try to make a save file but it doesn't want to load it anytime. It acts like there's no save there. Also Pokémon heart gold doesn't always want to load up. When I'm lucky enough to boot, same issue that it doesn't want to read a save file. I don't know if it works with my other Pokémon games. I thought the r4 gold pro was good.

The distribution carts work on any DS, so long as you set the date to the distribution period.

Ok I understand that. so I can use it with my Majora's Mask 3ds (even though it's not up to date) and SS on my OoT 3ds (with gateway cfw - and hope I can use my game cartridge and do local wifi with it).

Hello people. I hacked an old 2ds before and want to upgrade to a new 2ds. But I'm really concerned about it breaking, since its a little more pricey than the 2ds. I'm thinking about using the seedminer method, is there any way I can't recover my device from bricking? I have a 2ds backup.

Following the guide https://3ds.hacks.guide/ does not brick a 2|3DS.
  • Keep a NAND backup for each console (on multiple storage media)
    • :!: never try to restore the NAND image from a device to another one.
    • Restoring a NAND image is not a thing to do frivolously. If you have any bad trouble describe your problem before doing anything.
  • Any software damage can be repaired with ntrboot (requires compatible flashcart)
    • You basically would have to do very stupid things on purpose to come to this point.
    • Most problems can be solved even without this.
  • A backup of your complete SD is also nice→ Can save a lot of time in case of SD failure
  • Lastly: Installed games can be replaced, a failing 2|3DS can be replaced, your game progress NOT.

Have fun.
