Does this work for Wii titles as well? I noticed that playing a downloaded eShop version of Skyward Sword seems like they added this extra layer to the game as well. Does this go for every Wii Mode title?
no lol wii games dont have a dark layer lol, maybe its becuase your using hdmi cables instead of the crap wii cables.

I guess it is possible I have not tryed personally but I imagine you would need to FTP the file after installed and edit then FTP back I think that would be easiest method.

Other method would be to decrypt the Title and edit the file responsible and then repack to WUP and then install.

Wii injects, in the content folder, there are the *.nfs files which are the converted Wii ISO's split in 200mb chuncks. There is an content\assets\shaders\cafe folder with the following two files:
banner.gsh
fade.gsh

Using text editor with the above files brings up garbage text with some reference to BLK, there are no *.arc files to play with like the N64 injects. I assume you need a specific or custom app to read the *.gsh files, even if you can read it, the question is, will there be settings to play with?

EDIT:
I did fine a page which explains what the *.gsh files are, HERE.

Well appears to be no way then as @pedro702 said it could be your cables or possibly your TV or display device.

Another possibility is to make your own inject and see if it any different the eshop versions of games maybe patched directly.

It's really just speculation, I haven't been able rule it out and test it side by side with another title that is patched. I highly doubt it is my TV or cables because I am using this Samsung LED - Q6F Series - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR alongside with the official Nintendo Wii U HDMI cables on my Wii U. I just feel like after reading this article, playing this game has a slight filter to it preventing full color. I do have the eShop download on my Wii U, is there no way to dump it maybe for someone to check?

Sure you can dump it but sharing on the other hand well... I would just ask around or make a new post and see if anyone else who has the eshop version has the same issues I have the game but via USB Loader GX I run my Wii Games on seperate HDD for Cheats :D and easier access modding or convenience.:yaywii:

I have never even played the game like most of my collection:O just have not got round to them

What you could do is find yourself the Wii ISO for this game and boot it through USB Loader GX in vWii mode and see if you have the same problem? Of course your vWii will need to be soft modded to get USB Loader GX up and running and you will also need a Wii Motion Plus Wii Remote to play this. As this will be a better test for you and on the same TV, as it could be your TV doing something weird with the video signal or there is in fact some filter going on with the eShop version of this game.

Of course, I completely understand the seriousness and regulations against sharing and/or downloading games you don't own. Yeah, I could definitely ask around or make a new post to see if anyone else has the eshop version. It may be my own personal opinion of seeing this filter but it would be great to know if someone else has the same issues. About USB Loader GX, although I have never used it I do run Haxchi on my Wii U amongst other home-brew and have injected digital content I own through TeconMoon's WiiVC Injector [v3.0.1] (Although Skyward Sword was directly downloaded from the eShop). What's the point of using USB Loader GX if WiiVC Injector exists? I have an external USB HDD connected to my Wii U as well.

Is there a difference with booting an inject made with WiiVC Injector or booting through USB Loader GX in vWii mode? I'm not sure exactly how it works so I am not sure if my vWii is soft modded. I do have a Wii Motion Plus Wii Remote though to play with. I don't have any problems running anything else on my Wii U colors and clarity look great. Especially in Wii U mode, I don't have any problems with visuals for Wii U games. Even running Nintendont titles look good.

I could be wrong about all of this lol.

As far as I'm aware there is no difference in booting a custom made inject or loading the ISO through USB Loader GX, if you have access to create your own Wii injects and prefer this method then go ahead, if not, just load the ISO manually through USB Loader GX. Regardless which way you choose, the Wii game still using vWii mode to boot the game.

Easy way to check if your vWii is soft modded is boot into vWii, and check to see if you have the Homebrew Launcher Channel installed, if you soft modded your vWii, installing this channel is a requirement.

The question here is to find out if the eShop version of this game has been altered or not.

Keep in mind that the Wii U has its own hardware scaler (like pretty much every HDMI output device) designed to enforce the user's own chosen resolution even when the content has a different one. Useful for displays (like mine...) that don't support 240p. vWii will only output natively if you set your resolution to one that the Wii supported - and even then, it will scale if you're viewing 240p or one of the three options you're not using (480p/480i/576i).

Even this small discrepancy creates a different image than native Wii hardware. And yes, I did test both my Wii and Wii U with my component cables at 480p for a lark at one point. The only way to be sure that the eShop version of Skyward Sword doesn't have altered visuals is to test it on Wii U versus the retail version. It doesn't matter if that retail version is on DVD or ripped to a WBFS (using an ISO? How wasteful).

Clip Button and ClipRight is to center but does not work on an old Virtual Console as Base, try Paper Mario.

Another way to centralize is to edit the rom of the game in a hex editor and change the game region to japan by changing the letter E by J.

Thankyou it worked with paper mario as base :grog:

The super smash bros widescreen patch you posted does not work for me,i injected it into f-zero x. the game does boot but it pauses on opening credits.
what i did was hex edit the smash bros rom game id to the japan game id so i could use the smashbrosjp J config file made by nintendo. i then edited the config file wth your 800 by 600 resolution that you posted. heres the config that i used.
Is there anyway i can get smash bros widescreen to work? i use the easy definitive n64 injector.

I would recommend following the instructions in the OP and the post below. It works really well!
