not really hard to remove. you just have to know the tools that you need. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=131...ncorp&st=45. do not delete any ios in your wii...always a reminder. use Det1re´s Uncorp or the cioscorp uninstaller by da_letter_a. but as far as i know you have to re-apply trucha and ES_Identify patches to IOS36.
smile.gif

Can you redirect me to some guide to do that trucha and ES_Identify? Because I really don't remember doing any of those.
Damn SoftMii, why did I followed it back then?! >.<

I really want to get my Wii update, but I'm not quite sure what to follow since all the guides are for non-modded Wii. And because of that I'm afraid of doing it since something might work wrong with the things I already have "inside" its.
there are several apps available out there to trucha patch your ios. but i do recommend dop-ios mod. it install all the latest ios and have the option to trucha patch them. read info on the link.

http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/trucha

you are all good if you just follow all the instructions. have you already overwritten all ios that cioscorp had installed on your wii with either of the two cioscorp uninstaller that i had told you? if not yet then nevermind. dop ios will overwrite all the existing cios that cioscorp had installed in your wii. be sure you have bootmii boot 2 and preloader if you have bootmii only as an ios in case something will go wrong.

i suggest you update at least up to 4.0. if you don't want and you want to stay 3.2 then it doesn't matter anyways except for the sd card menu feature of the 4.x versions. 4.2 sucks so i reverted to 4.1. well still up to you what version you want to upgrade to.

first of all you don't have to uninstall anything. uninstalling ios increases your risk to brick if you do not know what you are removing. installing a new ios just overwrites what ios you have so you don't have to uninstall.

upgrade at least up to 4.0 http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/trucha
upgrade to cios38 rev 14/15 (this wanin's249) http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/cios/waninkoko
use neogamma, uloader or wiiflow...just choose lastest and info here http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers
for the rest of your .dols use HBB to update your homebrew apps.

if you are a cioscorp user latest is at 3.5. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=188378

Hi,
Did the twilight hack and installed the homebrew channel ages ago. (say >a year)
Since then my wii has been updated with both Animal Crossing:City Folk + Wii Sports Resort I believe.

I think it's on 4.1 at the moment, the homebrew channel is still there anyway (last update wasn't one that would wipe the channel/modifications)

I'm interested in
a) Updating it to the latest firmware for the wii shop channel.
b) Installing a usb backup loader/mod (i believe this is what i need?)

Read so many conflicting information out there...what exactly should i do (or need) in order to acheive both the above?

My Wii is a pal, launch day model if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Bumping my question, anyone wanna help?

Thanks
update to 4.2 then here http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/other-stuff/virgin

don't know what backup launcher to use here http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers

tut makers here at the temp made this mainly to avoid misleading guides floating around.

Another question I have is StartPatch essential if you already have Bootmii as a boot2 AND as an IOS.

Additionally, I know that some of the backup launchers (like uLoader and USB Loader GX) are in some ways better than NeoGamma/backup launcher 0.3Gamma. If I install the newer ones, like uLoader, will it affect my Wii at all (i.e. cIOS Hermes 222 making previous games inoperable, etc.)?

I am currently running 3.3u system menu with hbc, preloader, ios, etcetc. All is well, except for the hacks.ini working. My understanding is that 4.1 supports hacks.ini and provides some nice features to my wii.

I found an upgrade guide to 4.2, however, i understand 4.2 to be useless, and only intended to break homebrew. My question is, can i use NUSD to download wii systemmenu 4.1, make a wad file with it, and utilize wad manager to upgrade?

Alright, I'm a total noob to modding and I followed a guide off of the now closed Yafaze.com to softmod my wii over the summer. I believe I was at 4.0u and use Gamma7 back up launcher for playing stuff back as well as using the homebrew channel. I wanted to upgrade to 4.2 to because I saw that New Super Mario Bros. came with an update, so I started following the simplistic mod from this website and was able to update to 4.2. The only problem is that homebrew channel is gone (which I read would happen) and that now when I put in a dvd it doesn't show the backup in the original window like it did before (which I guess really doesn't matter but I found it aesthetically pleasing and I miss it). Where I'm at right now is trying to follow the Modify 4.2 section of the simplistic method but my wii keeps freezing as I try to put in the SD card to rerun bannerbomb. Since I don't know too much of what I'm doing, is there a really simple way to just go back and redo everything from scratch? And if not, can somebody help me with where I'm at?

Hi guys. I'm on 4.0, running my games off of a USB Loader and cIOS v12. New Super Mario Bros Wii gives me a green screen, despite being patched.

Do I need to update my cIOS, or do I need to update to 4.2 (and in that case, how do I do it?)? Or is there something else?

startpatch and bootmii have totally different purpose. startpatch mainly is used to apply system menu hacks just like preloader. eg. no background music; skip disc update; move the disc channel; region free games; etc...bootmii is an anti-brick protection which has the ability to restore you nand backup and access your wii if you get brick.

more info on startpatch here: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/sy...acks/Startpatch
more info on bootmii here: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha...uide/the-basics

regarding neogamma...on my experience neogamma so far is the most stable usb and disc loader out there. so far for my opinion only. of course different people have different preferences; thus different choices and point of view. uloader and loader gx have good GUIs though GX is better GUI wise compared to uloader because different themes are floating around available for it. better read here for descriptions and more info for each: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers

why are you afraid to use 222? 249 is different from 222 so there is no way to affect your wii's current performance by installing 222. 222 offers an alternative option if 249 fails...again for my experience only. see this link so that you could read more info about 222: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/cios/hermes-cios

yes this could be done. but you have to install first ios60 v6147 or the non-stub release of ios60. to do this you could use dop-ios mod. you could also install all other updated ios through this dop-ios mod and trucha patch them. if you are assured you have already ios60 (non-stub of course) then you could do the wad installation of system menu 4.1.

if you have doubts check on this link: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/trucha i don't think you need to do TBR because your wii is already hackable.

i assume you are reffering to xzxero's guide? the guide is simply perfect and really does what it says.anyways it is useless to cry over spilled milk might as well start over.

you have to reinstall HBC: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha...uide/the-basics
next you have to restore trucha bug to your wii: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha.../trucha-bug-4-2
just don't uninstall anything other than listed on the guide.

and btw, xzxero is also one of those tut makers who made these guides. i am very much sure you could pull this off.

@praxis: better check on this: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=189802

I have, it was the first thing I saw. I don't see any suggested fix for the green screen.

I updated to cIOS v15 and installed IOS53 just in case. No change, still Green.

Yes, I am, but I set it to Force NTSC...
I'll check what loader I'm using when I get home. It's an older one, back from when cIOS v12 was the current version.

Is it okay to apply system updates from discs? I'm just using a wiikey... no HBC or loaders
If you use no homebrew AND the disc is from the same region as the wii, you can update it.
If one of the above is false, don't update

I have a 4.1 softmodded WIi with cISOCORP installed that Im selling to a 'technically challenged' individual. Basically want to 'unmod' it - can I just install the official 4.2 update and end up with a legit WII ?

Thanks and sorry for the ultranoobish question

a really noob question but is there a way to downgrade to system 3.2 from 4.2? without bricking my wii.

the only reason i want to is to get some saves to work since they won't work on system menu 4.2

Where can I learn more about cIOSes?

Specifically, I had cIOS36 installed on 3.2U. Now I've upgraded to 4.2 and need to upgrade IOSes. There's 349, 222 etc.

How do I know/learn which one to install (if any)? I'd like to install open wiiflow and I need one of them.

many thanks to the savvy helpers to us noob-boobs.
