Hold on, we still haven't said that we need new hardware for all cards, just the R4i Gold that was showing off an exploit in the first place. Actually, the EZFlash Vi has proven that it can be done by re-flashing your card (as long as it is flashable) and Team Acekard is 'working on it.'

Either way, in the case of new cards, it's kind of a double-edged sword. They would gain business from all the ROM monkeys who don't know any better than to recklessly update and would jump to get a new card to keep up with their bad habit, while they would lose business from those of us experienced customers who don't update recklessly and keep our uses legal and would be more likely to transition to a new card that wouldn't need a replacement.

I want my portable game system to be TRULY PORTABLE!! "Portable" means not having to drag around 20-50 teeny little cartridges. I'd GLADLY pay to be able to download games all onto one cart. N's production costs drop to near zero, game prices fall as a result, we all get more games...everyone wins!!

I agree this ought to be a kick in the pants to Nintendo...they need a wakeup call, IMMEDIATELY RELEASE ALL CURRENT AND PREVIOUSLY RELEASED DS AND GBA GAMES INTO THE DSiWARE STORE FOR DOWNLOAD, AND I'D HAPPILY PAY FOR THE TITLES I WANT.

I just want true convenience and portability.

Yes EZTeam did it so it should be the same for Acekard.

NO the EZ team updated the BOOTSTRAP or boot section of their EZVi card which is not possible in all cards it may or may not be possible in the Ak2i you will have to wait and see

NO the EZ team updated the BOOTSTRAP or boot section of their EZVi card which is not possible in all cards it may or may not be possible in the Ak2i you will have to wait and see

OMG Acekard released the Language fix once, it proves that AK2i can be updated. Gosh, maybe check before saying anything.

OMG Acekard released the Language fix once, it proves that AK2i can be updated. Gosh, maybe check before saying anything.

Duh! ..... I did state MAY OR MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE! ......remember it was a language fix not a bootstrap/boot fix the card worked regardless of the language just was not able to switch for certain countries!

The M3i Zero and Sc DSonei and the EZVi cards are totally hardware updatable no one knows for sure that the AK can be fixed in the same way until the AK team make a statement that they MAY or MAY not be able to do this!

Oh and what the hell would I know ?! .....I mean I have only been here 2 years longer than you have 2,340 more posts than you..I'm a Guru on SCdev.org and a respected fairly knowledgeable about most things poster here.......let me go back and check the forum see if i can figure this out as I obviously have no clue do I on this subject sorry! !?

Language fix still changed how the hardware works! It doesn't matter what kind of thing they change! Ffs and what the hell i know? Wow you have 2,340 posts more than me, you think that makes your penis longer? Stfu and don't be so ignorant.

actually mine is quite tiny do you also have a problem with that too!?

they found a way of making the TTDS to work again after it was killed with the firmware killer release from the TTDS team but does not mean it will be able to do the same with the TTDSi cards!

as above you will only know for sure when they release a fully working update and so far NONE have been released for ANY CARD!

Don't expect the firmware updates any time soon. The first DSi-compatible flashcart came out a MONTH after the DSi debuted in japan...

I think there's a couple of issues at work that affect whether a given card will be able to be updated.

First, the card has to store the bootstrap on some kind of flash memory, not a mask ROM, and that flash can be written to from a program running on the DS. If so, it would be like doing a BIOS update on your PC.

Second, the card maker has to have not taken any steps to prevent writing to the flash (i.e., the equivalent of flipping a "write protect" switch which, on a flash chip, is pretty much an irreversible action). Why would a cart maker do this? To prevent a clone-killer from working.

IIRC, there was a post back when the DSTT clone killer code came out that suggested that one of the clones (DSTT Advance, IIRC) was immune because the manufacturer had blown the fuse which allowed writes to the flash. I don't think anyone knows if a DSTTi is writable or even if there is a team to release an update anymore.

Based on the previous language update to the AK2i, we surmise (hope? pray?) that the flash is, in fact writable. My personal suspicion is that the R4i Gold team disabled writes to protect themselves from clone killers, but got bit by the need to upgrade their bootloader.

unstable...this way of hacking is just a partly hack,a rush work to attract ppl...
acekard team have also already known how to hack the card..but they have bigger problem...cause for now they can not find the right chip..
