Hold on, we still haven't said that we need new hardware for all cards, just the R4i Gold that was showing off an exploit in the first place. Actually, the EZFlash Vi has proven that it can be done by re-flashing your card (as long as it is flashable) and Team Acekard is 'working on it.'
Either way, in the case of new cards, it's kind of a double-edged sword. They would gain business from all the ROM monkeys who don't know any better than to recklessly update and would jump to get a new card to keep up with their bad habit, while they would lose business from those of us experienced customers who don't update recklessly and keep our uses legal and would be more likely to transition to a new card that wouldn't need a replacement.
