FFS this is as bad as DRM and the "walled garden" eshop, Nintendo still trying to control what you do with your OWN property that you OWN. YOU can let your pet piss on your Switch if YOU want to.

Can confirm... I had a previous cat in my life piss in a box, and I didn't know it... It got all inside my Sega Genesis and when I opened it up to clean it (probably several months later) it was a lost cause... The corrosion damage was irreversible.
