Hi guys, I recently hacked my Wii Using plailects guide, and now I wanna play my backups. Ive got everything set up with Loadiine, but Im not really happy with the results... Most of the games play yes, but a few won't at all, and many/most have some pretty ridiculous load times. Which got me thinking there must be a better way; is this really preferred ways of playing backups?

I thought I would be happy with Tiramisu but now I'm wondering if there's a different route I can go? Is Loadiine outdated? I like the idea of having everything on the main menu, but haven't installed aroma or any forwarders or anything like that.
Should I be using injectors? Would using NUSpli fix this problem?

TLDR: Loadiine is slow and compatibility is meh. What's the best way of playing backups on a Wii U?

Just install them on an external drive.

I'm using NUSspli now. Any harm in using a thumb drive?

Lol, hellooo. Is there a big difference between Tiramisu and Aroma?
Loading times would probably be slow, but I did have like 3 games on a thumb drive at one point. I just directly installed them using Wup Installer.

The Wii U is known for killing thumb drives, so I wouldn't do it.
Mine has had the same thumb drive plugged in for years and it’s fine.

Also, OP, why not just install the games to the home screen with WUP installer? Makes it easier to launch games and makes it more ‘vanilla’.

One disadvantage to using a thumb drive is that sometimes they don't draw enough power from the system causing your games to freeze or sometimes you may get an error message explaining the thumb drive is not drawing enough power from the Wii U.

Thumb drives are also known to degrade faster than hardrives.

If you just want stuff (games) installed directly to your system use NUSspli.

If you want to keep local backups for future usage (emulation, preservation) use Wii U USB Helper in combination with WUP installer.

A lot more people have reported that the Wii U killed their thumb drive in weeks/months, so I wouldn't recommend it.

I don't have two drives to test it with, but do you know if you can 'hot swap' drives as long as they have the same data? Copy the files and make a backup? Mine wasn't able to be read by my MacBook unfortunately... Don't know if that's by design or what.

So far on the internet I have run across only two people who say the thumb drives with Wii U was safe. If I can back it up I wouldn't mind taking the chances as much.

Well also people tend to buy the cheapest stuff in the market... Since they're not paying anything for the games they play you expect them to shell out some cash for a good thumbstick? i had mine for years now, never really had an issue. even used it for PS3 games. But i actually spend money on the thing.

That tool is so old... Either use NUSspli (it can download only as well as keep downloaded files after installation) or Wii U Downloader.

//EDIT:

Same for that tool. NUSspli can install 3rd party content, too...

Don't quote me if you can't read

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
