2017/10/12(updated)– about R4i B9S Card brick

The r4i-sdhc team replied to me just now about the R4i B9S card brick issue.

They apologized that when releasing the flasher they haven’t considered the problem that each R4i B9S card has a different KEY, which led to failure in being recognized by the software.

In addition, for customers who has a R4i B9S card brick, the factory is willing to resend a free new R4i B9S card. So please contact them at email address: [email protected]

Hereby thanks in advance for their initiative to take the responsibility!
"When we designed this tool we failed to consider that it would need a matching key even though we designed our products to all have different keys. Please understand."

Okay, I give up with having this fully implemented before giving everyone builds. I want to see what's up with this.

DISCLAIMER: The following build of ntrboot_flasher is not officially supported, not fully tested, etc. It also has nothing to say "hey this isn't this cart type!" ntrboot injection is not implemented! Use at your own risk.

I repeat, ntrboot injection is not implemented! (Before you ask me going "it instantly completed, did it work?" or whatever.)

I'd like to see dumps from both bricked and unbricked carts, whether B9S or not, though for this 'different key' business I'm most interested in seeing carts that haven't bricked.
Even more at your own risk (but appreciated) would be flashing someone elses flash to your own. I would reccomend doing a diff to see what's different before you do so.

Experimentation is appreciated (many hands make the load light) but done at your own risk.

But yet they still continue to ignore my emails I’m not taking this personal or anything. (Taking it a little personal)

They're probably afraid that releasing the source will allow us to easily inject NTRBoot onto our cheaper R4i SDHC cards making their B9S card pointless. Of course they should already be aware that SDHC support is being worked on since they just forked NTRBoot.

I mean... support started because they released their flasher. (thank you people at r4i-sdhc.com by the way if you're reading this, made our job a whole lot easier.)

Have you gotten any unbricked dumps yet? I'd like to try flashing one to my bricked card if you have one to try it
I haven't seen any replies in this thread with *any* dumps yet. I do have the dump from the person who tested if it could sucessfully read flash from the b9s carts, but I don't want to share it without permission.

On the other hand, I'm rather curious to see what a bricked flash looks like, so if you could dump and upload it so we can take a look, that'd be awesome. (it's also something to do while you're waiting for people to upload a flash that isn't bricked)

I already dumped. Where's it located? Probably won't get it uploaded until tomorrow though.

I'm replying for notifications. I have a r4i-sdhc.com flashcart and I don't want to brick it because I'm impatient!
for the future, there's a button you can click to get notifications without posting anything. ;)

EDIT: also would you be interested in uploading your flash from a cart that hasn't been bricked?

...I don't know how. If I had the .firm or whatever, I wouldn't be looking through this thread, honestly.
If I need CFW... well, that's why I'm looking into this. I don't have CFW.
If I can find out how, I'll do it over the weekend or something.

You don't want that, lol, download kitlith's attachment and use that to dump your backup.bin and upload it.
We'll get support faster that way.

They were ignoring me when I started calling the cart out for the high price, but inability to play DS games, so this isn’t new. I am just extremely persistent and won’t let the team forget about me.
I am honestly not sure why it would matter if I bought this cart or the cheaper one, they still get my money. The also still money from future purchases no matter what cart someone goes with.
