Despite Nintendo having recently released the New 2DS XL, it seems that the company isn't stopping focus on the older 2DS model. Nintendo of America's Twitter account showed off a new bundle that's set to hit store shelves on August 25th. Retailing for $79.99, it'll be a standard red and white original 2DS system, with New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed. This is likely being released as a reminder that there's a budget-oriented option for Nintendo fans that aren't invested in the 3DS ecosystem yet.

As for the news, it's a bit strange to release the old model now with an old game as a package, but if it works then fair enough.

Will this even sell over in the U.S? They are not selling like hot cakes in the UK that is for sure. (i am referring to the O2DS only here).

It would have made more sense to release a limited Edition New 2Ds version of this.

They've been selling MK7 2DS bundle for a while and it was sold out for the better part of the first half of this year.
