I have a New 3DS XL at 9.2, Reinand 10.6. I downloaded the cia 0004013820000202 v4816 with "3DNUS2.5". I patched it using "New3DS_AGB_FIRM_v4816_SignPatcher.exe". I then deleted 0004013820000202 from my NAND. I then installed the patched one to my NAND. I installed a GBA game to my NAND and SD. Still get the "An Error Has Occurred" screen. Any ideas?

Microsoft Defender won't let me have it either. Are you sure this file is safe? Are there any alternatives to it?

EDIT: I've found that this works better than the link in the first post. Plus it comes with a variety of other handy tools!

your AV is firing off false positives, works fine here default Defender allows it to run and so does ym Kasperksy

Now, I'm having a very bizarre error. When i try to delete the old title (yes, it's the correct one), i get a small message saying "Delete failed". Any ideas?

Just an FYI Windows 10 Defender does flag/remove it. I do not know if it is false flagging before the download gets done but it gets removed and Chrome tags that it was flagged as an infection. I was able to go in and allow/restore the file (at which point I couldn't find where it restored to...). Redownloading didn't result in a new flag. I guess because I had allowed it the first round.

Hey Guys!

I'm trying to install this but without success! My config is:

-O3DS with 9.2E Sysnand, Gateway 3DS with 10.6E.

I booted the console into HomeBrew Channel and launched FBI. Then I tried to install to SD and NAND but got this error:
Old3DS.AGB_Firm.Patch.cia Source: SOURCE_FSFILE_WRITE (0x1c)
Module: MODULE_NM_AM (0x20) Level: LEVEL_USAGE (0x1c)
Summary: SUMMARY_INVALID_ARGUMENT (0x7)
Description: DESCRIPTION_INVALID_COMBINATION (0x3ee)

I want to be able to play GBA Games on my O3DS. I normally use the Gateway / Emunand all the time! What can I do? A step by step help or something would be really cool! Thanks!

GBA games must be installed to both nands, destination SD.

Which nand has the custom AGB_FIRM? You have to run the game from the nand with the custom AGB_FIRM.
The patched AGB_FIRM is on my Sysnand. I'm trying to play on Emunand. When I try to install the patched CIA file on Emunand I get the error "DESCRIPTION_INVALID_COMBINATION".

I'm having trouble getting the games to actually boot.

Install works fine, but when the games run, they just blank out to a black screen. No error, no nothing.

Install is A9LH, CakesFW on an up to date o3DS sysNAND. Installed the patch in the first post (for o3DS). Any ideas?

I had this on a few of ROMS I tried. I had to try a different ROM to get it working in the end.

Anyone know if this works with ReiNand CFW? I saw posts that say cake and pasta work, but i'd have to do a lot of adjusting, up/downgrading, etc to get them to work, not worth it. Might just have a rom that doesn't work.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
