Well...I'll have to disagree. I would say that modmii is the most helpful thing ever seen on this site. But that's of course just my opinion.
The question on the side I asked because more than a few guides go and install darkcorp, or worse: cIOScorp on your wii (cioscorp is an outdated version of darkcorp). This not only could destabilize some things on your wii, but is literally AT BEST useless on any wii of which the drive refuses to read backup disks. And all colored wii's (as well as the family edition) are among those. It wasn't a major point of my post...it was just to point out that guides that aren't updated regularly and do not take different end goals into account (if you just aim to play games from USB drive - which is better anyway - there is no need to mess with anything below the 200 range).
That is also the main advantage of modmii. If something new comes along that is more stable or updated than the previous one, it includes that. And drops something if it has no purpose anymore.
That aside...having IOS58 is good (the HBC
can run from cIOS'es as well, but why settle for anything less than the best option?
). And 222, 223...erm...unless you're trying some REALLY exotic stuff and are stubborn to make it work that way*, then I it's basically useless. You certainly won't be needing it to play wii or gamecube games.
But honestly: check whatever is occupying slot 249 (and 250, if you're following modmii's advice). Nintendo wants it to be a stub...but you don't (a stub is basically 'a cIOS without anything but the name'). So if not solved already: make sure to install whatever modmii suggests there.
* Hermes, the author of 222 and 223, also made a loader (uloader) that could play games as well as do some basic emulated nand stuff. Around the same time, other loaders started doing that as well (mighty channels and so on), but though both methods got most wiiware to run, uloader had a small handful of games that ran that the other method couldn't run (swords & soldiers, to name one). Then full emulated nands became possible and the small advantage wasn't unique anymore. And even then: it's possible that the more recent changes to d2x and the loaders got even that to work properly.
