PS1/2 My PS2 is having trouble reading the USB ports

I'm having trouble getting my PS2 to read my USB drives when I have launchelf booted up. I'm not sure why, it just freezes when I go to filebrowse and click OK on mass: I've heard that the PS2 only reads FAT/FAT32 so I made sure that my usbs were formatted to that. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong? I want to install Free MCBoot so I don't have to deal with this PSX/USB/HDloader.elf routine anymore and just immediately boot from the PS2 home menu.

I would say to try a different version of ulaunchelf. you can also load freemcboot installer directly if you rename it HDloader.elf...

The latest version of ulaunchELF is 4.42a. If that doesn't work, then your USB drive could be one of the few incompatible with the PS2.

Well, looks like it was the ulauncher that was the problem- didn't support my kingston usb flash drive. Fortunately, I was able to use my PSP as my mass storage unit and install the new 4.41 ulaunch.

Well, another question now... Is there an app that will allow my ps2 to recognize my 32MB memory cards whenever I boot up my PS2? These 32MB cards came with my Action replay CD,

PS2 have usb 1.1 ports don't they?... so you need a 1.1 USB as far as I know

all 2.0 devices are 1.1 compatible

those cards were really crappy
they always required you to insert the mc startup disc before you were able to use them, you had to do this every time you powered up the PS2
there is no way around it
you could just buy a cheap clone from DX, but reliability is pretty bad
