The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been leaked almost 2 weeks from release

zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom.jpg

Nintendo games have the tendency to get leaked days, if not weeks, ahead from the proper release date, and as usual, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no exception, more so given the anticipation of the sequel to the highly acclaimed Breath of the Wild, released 6 years ago.

The game seems to have been dumped today, May 1st, and shared online already in the familiar NSP and XCI formats, with many already playing it through Ryujinx and Yuzu, though how good compatibility is there with the title is not known yet, but some have cited good performance compared to Switch, which seems to still share the same shuggy gameplay and performance drops that its predecessor had as well in real hardware.

As usual, remember that we don't allow sharing links to ROM sites of any kind, so please avoid posting them.

Nintendo really needs Microsoft or Sony type of security to keep their games from leaking early all the time, same shit that happened with Skyward Sword and Super Smash Bros Brawl back in the day

mmmh... more like they need their type of security on their console
I mean, if ps5 was fully cracked now like the switch, I'm very pretty sure their anticipated games would leak early just like big N

I'm surprised no one has any interest in wanting to leak Final Fantasy XVI yet 😐

Im exactly with you on this... I find it funny how people judge the game & have not finished it or probably play it.... Its seems like a excellent game to me im pretty much trying not to play it too much as i want it on my Oled screen... It's a Zelda game its bound to be full of random things.. Secrets galore until you finish it 100% you just don't know anything really.. I was going through BOTW just before this gae & i was find new things here and there as i was taking me sweet time this time around.... But anyways people enjoying talking shit... Often about stuff they don't know about

Blame it on their weak consoles that can be easily emulated on PC or handheld like the SteamDeck. You don't even need to hack their consoles, you can pirate both the hardwares and softwares.

well... YOU don't need to hack their console to emulate it
But the people who made the emulator sure needed to

Emulators are emulating not 'hacking' - as in finding an exploit to install CFW.

An emulator needs to implement all of the same syscalls (and translate the calls to whatever the host platform is using.)

This often requires some level of disassembly to reverse engineer, which often requires hacking the console to get decrypted firmware files.

I wonder whether Nintendo will get the leaker. This is this years' major title, after all.

Not sure if this isn't the case already, but one day Nintendo is going to develop a fingerprint for each copy (at least for physical review copies).

Not sure if Nintendo is purposely not pursuing stronger security just to use leaks as leverage to merit DMCA takedowns and lawsuits.

Wasn't the leak from a retail cartridge?

Nintendo absolutely could check the XCI certificate to see which specific cartridge leaked if they wanted. (Assuming it wasn't wiped.)

If they did that, and tracked which cartridges were given to reviewers, they could easily find the leaker (if the leak is a review copy.)

how are people enjoying Minecraft X Zelda?

I am liking the extension of BOTW but the crafting is going to get old very quickly
Totally, just like people stopped playing minecraft very quickly after release!

Did they remove limited stamina? Did they make weapons unbreakable, or at least make them a hell of a lot more durable with ways to repair preferred equipment, and ways to pass on equipment skills (like crit up) to other equipment?

Did they add dev-placed map markers to give players direction, to allow players to plan out their playthrough by deciding what bit of content they want to do now and what to do later? To make the game actually respectful of players' time and patience?

Did they allow you to fully max out both hearts and stamina, if the latter's still present, since that wasn't possible in BotW no matter how many goddamn Spirit Orbs you collected?
Did they put in actual goddamn dungeons to at least make it slightly worthy to bear the "Legend of Zelda" moniker, worthy of representing the series and its amazing legacy?
You don't like Zelda? Fine. Be a big boi and go play another game instead of whining about it.

Yes definitely a troll. Just plays a video from the YouTube channel Terminal Montage.
It definitely leaked without troll lol I have had it over 1 week now but only yesterday tried playing it 4k 60fps was pretty fine thanks to 60fps mod however animations and cutscenes seemed slightly faster than they should be so I recommend playing it at capped 30fps.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
