Hardware Wii U won't read any Wii games

Hey there,

I bought my Wii U off of Craigslist a few months ago and it won't read any Wii games so I can't homebrew it (Brawl & Lego Batman).
I just called Nintendo and they said that my warranty has expired and the repair would cost me $99.

Is there anything I should try or do to try to fix it?

I'm tech savvy so if there are any repair tear-downs I'd be more than willing to do them.
