Uhggg.....I am on 5.1 but really am considering giving it up........I really miss eShop, MK8 and AC4 and a few others I play online. Despite some of the contrarians here, sometimes a scene does move fast. All the 'team' has to do is find that kernel exploit and boom within days/weeks we could have things like loaders and such.

I am considering getting a WiiUKey just so I can do away with discs, I already have over 25 WiiU retail games and honestly all I care about at the moment is running isos so I don't have to dick with discs.

I guess I will just update and if some killer exploit happens I can always snag another WiiU.

don't you remember what happened with the n64 and psx emus?

To be fair, there's been very little in the way of open-source PSX and N64 emulators until very recently. What did exist didn't have very good compatibility.

Meh, it's up to you really. We'll almost definitely have a new webkit exploit for whenever we're ready to release whatever kernel exploit we'll find. I wouldn't sweat it a whole lot.

Don't you remember when you had hope in Wii U hacking? That's okay, I don't either. They're still being worked on, I spoke with the developer last week and yes, I have proof they are being worked on. But I still think you're being awfully pessimistic about Wii U homebrew as a whole. Lighten up; no wonder people don't release their hacks. Judging from that post, you didn't even try to counter my accusation of you being overly pessimistic about Wii U hacking. Odd. Once a pessimist, always a pessimist.

To all the people wanting emulators and such running on the Wii U:
Get a damn laptop/ PC which is multiples stronger than the pathetic Wii U and play your favorite classic games in full speed. Get started NOW, you don't need an exploit.

The only point in homebrew for the Wii U are e.g. free games and game mods. Generally stuff which enriches the original capabilities of the console and which a PC can't perfectly replace. *cough*

Use your console for the purpose it's intended for: Running Wii and Wii U games!

You want to use the original controllers which you can't on PC?
Get an original SNES console or whatever and pirate all games. It'll be cheap.

You want to use the Gamepad for classic games?
You're a f*cking nerd. Why would you want to use this giant thing? Heavy and won't have any touchscreen functions.

Dude I have to mostly agree with you.......I never understand all this EMU shit on consoles as they mostly suck at it other than running the old 8/16bit stuff. Even an old dual core pc with a cheap video card will make a much better emu and MAME is so well cooked for managing the library.

Also agree, hacked gaming systems are best served when the hack somehow improves the product or feature set. A great example of this was the PSP.....which mostly sucked ass when 'stock' but became a super little game/video/ps1 machine when hacked.

Disagree on any ragging you are doing on the gamepad.....it is awesome, is not at all heavy (maybe you have small/weak hands) and the screen looks way better than the 480p it displays at. Playing old games on it is pretty cool as the SNES and GBA titles I have purchased on eShop look fantastic. I just want a hacked WiiU so I can have my library of discs on a USB drive and not have to mess with moving off the couch to change discs, ok RF would be nice as well and a media player that does .x264 files.

The point of running emu's and stuff on consoles is to do it because we can :P. Some people find this sort of thing to be really neat. sure you could do the same thing (easier and better) with a pc but where's the fun in that? I personally love running emu's on my home consoles, many of them work great. Of course in terms of psx and n64 emus on the original Wii, those were a joke. A big part of the problem with that is because of the fact that the original Wii has very limited "horsepower" if you will and is not capable of properly emulating those consoles. Was nintendo able to pull that off on the VC for n64 games, yes, but they also know their own hardware like the back of their hand. Not to mention they probably used a virtual machine for it instead of emulation. These are too entirely different approaches to the same thing. Emulation requires a lot more horsepower then virtualization. Using a virtual machine just allocates certain hardware for the sole purpose of running said virtual machine whereas emulators literally mimic what the hardware being emulated does on the fly in ram using software. BIG difference between the two.

Moving right along, with the Wii U's hardware we could easily pull off PSX/N64 emulation. we have two options for doing so, one being the trinux exploit (running in the altered vWii mode) once we utilize all 3 cores of the espresso processor, and too with a full blown exploit in Wii U mode (giving us full access to all of the Wii U's hardware :) )

Look, if you don't like emulation on consoles, thats fine, to each their own, but no need to trash the idea behind it.

That and someone willing to port PCSX-reloaded and Mupen64 2.0 plus, luckily these two are very open source and have code readily available to be ported over to other operating systems, such as Linux, and hopefully, they can be ported over to Wii U. The console needs good emulators since Wii64 and WiiSX won't be updated for quite a while at this point. I don't know what this dude's beef is, or why he's being so overly contentious or seemingly bitter and pessimistic about emulation as a whole. Nothing wrong with using real hardware like you said, but its not practical for everyone to have access to one and emulation is very convenient to have access to; hackers truly do what Nintendon't.

TeamScriptKiddies Well then enjoy being at the emulation state of like 10 years ago and run DS or N64 games at normal speed while you're missing out on super speed and save states which a PC would have.
Each to their own indeed.

Because clearly, people aren't allowed to use emulators on consoles but they absolutely have to use them only on PCs. Got it. FYI, emulators on consoles have the same functions as PC emulators that include save/load states and fast forward too, not that you knew that. Now please, don't speak so condescendingly and go back to enjoying your holier than thou PC emulators. Good day.

Me stupid? Just look at the performance and nobody wants to wait a while for the savestate to be performed or whatever. It's an unusable feature just like fast forward lol.

If you want to play emulated games on a TV, it tends to be easier to use a device that's already connected to said TV. Moving the PC to the TV every time I want to play something is not my idea of fun. (and streaming = input lag)

exactly, even android can do a better emulation job than consoles and you can't loose network access or get banned on a pc or android, the only reason i'm holding out for a wii u exploit is cheat code/mods support and region free gaming, devs would be wasting their time and resources porting over emus.
