Wii U SNES Virtual Console Options? (does it suck like NES/N64 VC)

Hey all, can anyone give me a solid opinion on what to expect from SNES VC on the Wii U? I may want to ditch my SNES and purchase a few games on the VC, but after my Wii U VC experience so far I'm not super tempted.

    NES VC was absolutely terrible:
    • Blurry up-scaling
    • Faded colors
    • Sound issues (especially noticeable with Balloon Fight)
N64 VC was not as bad, but still a huge letdown:
    • Additional input lag which didn't exist if you played the same titles with vWii
    • Not being able to use the native widescreen mode in Donkey Kong 64
So what downfalls should I expect with SNES VC? I've played a couple SNES VC games a long time ago, but nothing memorable that I actually cared about. Depending on the general consensus vWii VC may be what I end up falling back on, but booting into vWii everytime I want to play SNES is kind of a pain.

Avoid using SNES VC injections (and NES too).
Just get yourself RetroArch for the Wii U, the Snes9x cores work wonderfully already.

I wasn't talking about SNES injections, I was talking about legitimate purchased SNES VC games from the eShop.

Oh well, then expect the same thing as NES VC.
They pretty much work with the same base emulator, so you will get the same results as the NES ones.

Oh, then rip Wii U VC. :( If Switch has VC hopefully it isn't an embarrassment like NES/SNES/N64 VC on the Wii U.

I really hope it is, because the library and emulation right now for the VC on the Wii U is pretty lackluster.
I really hope they make better emus for their VC stuff, mostly N64 and more compatibility to it.

Yeah me too, but that might come eventually.
With the progress the Wii U is getting, and Team SALT's shit still underwraps, it will only be a matter of time until we can boot into a sig patched sysNAND for the Wii U.

I will hold on until that time comes, because I really don't like redNAND at all.

The time is now if you combine haxchi with dimok's IOSUHAX cfw-coldboot build ;) hopefully at some point it will be as safe as the Wii or the 3DS.

I gave RedNAND a shot, but the fact that vWii was entirely broken in RedNAND was a deal-breaker.

    CFW coldboot?
You mean making haxchi automatically boot dimok's newest sign patched app and fiddling around with the system.xml?

Well to be honest i do dislike the not full screen option in the VC games, but GBA do have a screen filter for blur which i guess isn't that bad... and compared to NES classic that came out weeks ago do the NES Games on there look better than tne NES VC ones? I mean the classic has 720P and WII U has 1080P

I actually have SNES games like super metroid and Super mario world, it works, and maybe i didn't know about coloring issues, perhaps just adjusting the tv will help with that like some smart tvs have settings for it. I just use the game pad anyway. The N64 thing i don't like might be the Joystick since i wasn't sure but it feels more sensitive than the actual n64 since the wii u controllers don't use the GATE feature like the original. Is probably better played with the WII classic controller or if possible, Gamecube or N64 controller or any controller that has a gate on it.

I was literally angry at Nintendo for this, I played in Widescreen on my own N64 since I got my first widescreen monitor and will NOT go back.

luckily, I found that some Vizio TVs have manual horizontal and vertical adjustment that is per pixel, which works like the CRT monitor adjustments in how fine it can adjust the picture.
I was able to set my zoom mode to stretch 4:3 to widescreen (most TVs do not allow this on 16:9 input signals) as it stretches the 4:3 box to 16:9 then I can manually dial in the adjustment until DK64 fills up the screen. TAKE THAT NINTENDO, I GOT WIDESCREEN ANYWAY!

Yup, you make a clean copy of system.xml called syshax.xml, and then change the Default Title ID of system.xml to match your haxchi title

Yea not quite for the faint-hearted yet. The brick potential is low IMO if you do your due diligence in making sure everything is setup right. Here's some links if you ever want to take a look:

It also helps that Nintendo had no part in the GBA emulator, they used the help of M2, who wrote the Genesis emulator for the Wii, to do the work, so in that regard it's better than Nintendo could've done.

Better done by a king than a prince. :P

Least we don't have to worry about backbone entertainment. Except hamster corp is moving in on the territory. I do wonder if M2 can do ports like that having Super mario advance 4 with all e reader levels, why couldn't they make the two metroid games have the full galery unlocked, or even... i dunno, ONLINE PLAY MODES, or even local play with 3DS or they also have the gamecube adaptors, they could just use GBA connectors. :P

I don't know, to be blunt I've given up 100% on the Wii U VC, it's a joke, a farce, RetroArch is everything the Wii U VC never was :P It's too much of step backwards for me now lol.

I know but you have to admit they did do cool stuff with the GBA games, e reader levels in sma4 and the secret chips easy access in Mega man battle network games is godlike. I was hoping maybe for mega man NDS games with bonus stuff, or online modes which sounds godlike. :D

I haven't really tried the retroarch on wii u, how is it? i usually don't like using retroarch cause of is complexity but hoping for stand alone emulators like the GX emulators on vwii, Genesis plus gx to play my sonic hacks.^_^
