remember how 2 years ago when microsoft were recycling old gamertags? so what happens when your gamertag gets recycled? do you lose everything like gamerscore/digital purchase/friend list and anything else that's attached to the xbox live account?

i've always assumed that when you lose your gamertag, you're actually losing your entire hotmail account and everything along with it.

thanks for letting me know!

i think it's more of a case of recycling old unused gamertags that were made unused because you went for a namechange, meaning no account was lost
if not recycling unused gamertags to be able to use again it might just be unlinking the microsoft account from an xbox account, idk
i never heard of this gamertag recycling thing so i'm just going off assumption

Few years ago MS indeed "recycled" old gamertags.
These where gamertags from the original Xbox Live, before the 360 was launched.
Activity on those accounts that where recycled seized some 10 years or more ago.
