The DS-X, from a hardware standpoint, is no longer technologically advanced. The CycloDS has the same FPGA, and it uses it for more than just flashing LEDs or running broken shell apps.

^^^True. In fact it almost seems rare for a DS cart to not have an Actel A3P250. This is a list of the cards I'm aware of that use or have used the same FPGA as the DS-Xtreme.

Personally, I have an Acekard RPG on order and I'm just waiting on it to arrive some time this week. It seems to be pretty much everything the DS-X claimed back around launch plus much more. Onboard memory, plus expansion slot for micro SD; open source so at least if they did pull a DS-X and stop updating there's the _potential_ for anybody else to pick it up; frequent updates and support; and it has all the bells and whistles that everybody else enjoys like cheats and soft reset patching. The sort of features that the DS-X devs have outright refused to support.

The DS-X forums are actually well moderated enough that the mods make an attempt to protect a new member from being viciouly attacked and having their integrity/motives questioned for merely stating their opinion!

Bullshit, the DS-X forums are one of the worst forums I've ever seen. They ban people for saying their own opinion and sometimes they even ban people without a valid reason.
The only reason that they're "protecting" you is 'cause you say exactly the things they want you to say.

Hi, it's been 37 days and counting that I have been sitting on my
defective unit.

Is there any way that you could get in contact with Dino or whoever is
in charge of ordering new stock to be made and let me know an estimated
time of the new stocks arrival.

Plus I have been through all the other tickets waiting for new units and
there are only 4 of us waiting.Its kinda annoying that I cant get hold
of a replacement unit but there is a compo on the forums to win 2 units.

Im sure there must be more you can do than say you can get a unit to me
but it all depends on someone who wont respond to my emails. I am sure

There still is no stock - Thus dino may not be replying to you.

We can't order "more" stock - we are the producer/manufacturer ourselves...

There is currently a shortage for various components required to produce
the DS-X which makes us unable to produce any new units.

This bothers us just as much as it bothers you and we have been trying
our best to get our hands on these components at a reasonable price
(without having to up the price due to inflation onto the customer) but
we have yet been unable to do so.

So yes, while we are running a competition or sponsored one, we put
those units aside 3-4 months ago as far as I remember, thus we can
deliver the prizes.

Hi, it's been 37 days and counting that I have been sitting on my
defective unit.

Is there any way that you could get in contact with Dino or whoever is
in charge of ordering new stock to be made and let me know an estimated
time of the new stocks arrival.

Plus I have been through all the other tickets waiting for new units and
there are only 4 of us waiting.Its kinda annoying that I cant get hold
of a replacement unit but there is a compo on the forums to win 2 units.

Im sure there must be more you can do than say you can get a unit to me
but it all depends on someone who wont respond to my emails. I am sure
you can understand my frustration at the situation.

Hello,

There still is no stock - Thus dino may not be replying to you.

We can't order "more" stock - we are the producer/manufacturer ourselves...

There is currently a shortage for various components required to produce
the DS-X which makes us unable to produce any new units.

This bothers us just as much as it bothers you and we have been trying
our best to get our hands on these components at a reasonable price
(without having to up the price due to inflation onto the customer) but
we have yet been unable to do so.

So yes, while we are running a competition or sponsored one, we put
those units aside 3-4 months ago as far as I remember, thus we can
deliver the prizes.

Do you know anything at all about the new carts even a "its takeing
longer than we expected and that is because of X reason" would be great.

With great delight, am I able to inform you that we have begun
production again.

As you know it has taken us a long time to resume production and while
we are very sorry about this, our hands were tied as we were unable to
gather the components required to produce the DS-Xtreme's for a very
very long time.

But, that issue is now gone and production is finally running <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> So, I
ask of you to give us another 1-2 weeks (approx 3rd November) due to the
involved logistics to get the units from factory to the distribution. It
can be sooner, but I would rather be safe then sorry if something

Anyhow, Once they have arrived at our distribution and are ready to

For your information Rabid1's post just goes to show what an even handed, fair moderator he is. He didnt take sides with anyone, stated that there is a tiny percentage of people who have problems with their Xtremes and may be a bit disgruntled. And that someone like me, who has multiple Ds-Xtremes which work perfectly well and do exactly what they were bought to do might draw fire from the one or two people that have problems with their carts. It just goes to show the caliber of the moderators over at the official forums and proves my point, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the moderating at the official forums is second to none, and all the staff over there are the best in this business! So MrSpud thanks so much for helping me prove my point yet again, you have P0WNED yourself, in the foot! YET AGAIN!!! HA!!!

Did he really say something along the lines of DSX has decent support? Surely it's in jest. Or perhaps he's one of the few that actually did get decent support.

Either way, it doesn't make up for a cart that's so slow with updates it's almost in reverse. I don't care if the forum is badly moderated and so on. I care about having a cart that keeps up with the competition.

Mac updater?
Skin app?
New features?

Just a few of the things i've been waiting for, for over a year. The delay in fixing the ARM7 update says it all - the card is crap and the entire community knows it.

If pingpong truly believes it's the best cart on the market, he obviously hasn't tried or even just looked at anything else.


PS nice swerve on all of Spud's questions.

PPS P1ng's posts are awfully questionable as to their legitimacy.
