Hardware The unthinkable happened - my Wii U no longer recognizes my hard drive

After only 6 months of using it, my external SDD that I had connected with a Y-cable stopped being recognized by the Wii U. I tried reformatting it, but I would get an error code and be forced to restart the console.

Does anyone know any way for me to fix it? I rather not lose my games and saves, but if it's the only way to get the drive back...

Have you tried using another cable and tried to connect to the front usb ports of the Wii U?

I only have one Y-cable, but I have tried using the front ports.

Have you tried testing the SSD drive with a computer program?

It might have the partition scheme messed up. If so, you could repair it without loosing anything.

If the computer can't read it in Windows tey with a Ubuntu Linux or a Linux Mint live CD or DVD.
