exfat is problem i have translated a text of a german website which describes the prob:

Ever since the start of the homebrew scene, users have been warned against using exFAT for microSD cards for the switch, as this leads to long-term data loss. The reason is that Nintendo's FAT driver is faulty and constantly changes files and folders, even with simple reads. The changes are never correctly synchronized with the file system, which means that if an application is terminated improperly / a reboot / shutdown occurs, the file handlers are lost and are then missing in the file allocation table. This also happens with FAT32.

Since exFAT, unlike FAT32, does not have a second backup file allocation table, the data and folders are irretrievably lost.

Official applications (such as games) are * normally * always shut down cleanly, which is why the problem rarely occurs here. File handlers are per application, which is why the whole thing can also occur normally in the event of a forced shutdown

Thank you. I really wish console manufacturers would stop screwing around and just add support for NTFS. The license cost must be like 2 cents at volume and it would save everyone so much trouble.

The solution for me was to switch to Atmosphere. It hasn't happened again since I did that and I use my old SXOS emunand with Atmosphere.
