Since I own this cart myself I'll be happy to answer your questions.

1. No. compatibility is medium where other carts shine. also, some games experience minor/major slowdowns.
2. You can play most games, but not all. homebrew also works.
3. Yes, but it uses an external saver to save to SD, so you have to press a button combination each time you save to actually save to SD. it does however, support real time saving.

well, as it is your only option, I'd say do it. not all games have problems after all. for example: zelda games run great, pokemon works great too. Super mario advance 2: Super mario world does have major slowdown in most levels.

Do you think it would be better to get a 3 in 1 cart for the NDS rather than this other cart ?

Only asking as i have both GBA SP and a DS Lite

Its definitely not worth $30.

I got mine from Dealextreme couple of years ago for less than $10 and it works GREAT.
However comparability is not the best out there.
Saving gets annoying -.- It ruined my pokemon experience so many times.

Yes you should.

Compatibility is actually pretty decent, mine has run every single game I threw at it for the past 5 years. The only games that I did have issue with were the Pokemon games that needed a real-time-clock, but heck almost every other cart out there suffers from that limitation too.

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
