But Sonic is not all about going fast. Indeed I would probably go so far as to say it is not even one of the main components as much as control and timing.
Is this coming to consoles? I haven't bought Sonic 1 yet because you can play it on Generations, but I would totally be down to buy this version.
I realize that, but then it becomes more of an experiment than a game proper.
Even if you're not close to beating any records speedrunning games is really damn fun.

Does anybody know if they've made any changes to stop knuckles being able to fly all the way past Marble Zone, for example? Playing Sonic 1 as Knuckles is pretty cool, but it's all too tempting to cheat.
Well, there used to be a way where Knuckles could fly all the way across the level, and past the boss, but now, the screen locks at the boss so you can't glide over him anymore.
Oh I never knew you could fly across the boss. Still would have been nice for them to simply add a wall that goes all the way to the top of the play area. Wouldn't impact Sonic play because you can't *get* to that area anyway.

A ROM hack is not the same thing as locking on ROMS.
Though, to be honest, I didn't even know you could lock on roms in MegaDrive emulators.
Seeing as the "locking on" is done when the power to the system is off (or at least it damn well should be), it's simply changing the data available to it, to the "locked-on" ROMs are separate ROM dumps themselves, you don't combine them inside the emulator or anything.
Got it on my iPhone 5, it's a pretty nice version of the game. The music is pretty vibrant, and it runs sooo smooth~
Nexus 7, Sonic 1, PS3 controller = Perfect. I have a real blast playing this game and gladly bought it for both iOS and Android. When they release Sonic 2 I'll be doing the exact same thing (okay, I already owned Sonic 1 and 2 on iOS before).
Also, the Android version works in Bluestacks if you want to enjoy it there.

There's a video on Sonic Retro that shows off debug mode and some other tasty secrets, you know. I'd watch it myself but I don't want everything spoiled until I somehow acquire the money to buy and play through this port for myself.
