I'm not sure why so many people say this. I understand wanting to wait a few more years until your current gpu gets more and more outdated, but why wait specifically for the 1080ti? Why not until the 11 or 12 series come out? Every year there is going to be a better gpu, and I would think that the jump from 1080ti to 1180 would be much bigger than the one from 1080 to 1080tiIf I were to upgrade, I'd skip the 1080 and wait for the 1080ti.
So you'd think, but the performance gap between the 980ti and the 1080 is not that big at all. However, the difference between the 980ti and the 1080ti most definitely will be, if it's anything like the 780ti vs the 980ti. Look up some performance benchmarks and reviews, and then decide for yourself whether or not you think it's worth upgrading to, or if you'd rather wait for the next one, but I would prefer to get more bang for my buck. The difference between a standard card and a ti really shows.I'm not sure why so many people say this. Uh...the difference between 980ti and 1080 is much, MUCH larger than the difference between 980 and 980ti. While the architecture of the 980ti is improved (GM204>GM200), it actually has a LOWER base clock than the 980. The GTX 1080 has both better architecture (GP104 Pascal) and base clock, which is about 500 mhz higher than the 980's, and 600 mhz higher than the 980ti's.So you'd think, but the performance gap between the 980ti and the 1080 is not that big at all. this is a card the 1%'s buy anyway, people will be buying the 1070 instead
I looked at PCPartpicker and it says it's compatible, but to make sure, do X99 motherboards support them? For example I have an ASRock K1ller 3 Fatal1ty mobo.
https://linustechtips.com/main/topi...lming-and-rtg-seeking-to-leave-amd-for-intel/I see, if what you're saying is true, something below $380 and yet beating the performance would be heaven, kinda doubt that but I guess time will tell.
it doesnt matter is people are favoring the 1080, they simply don't have the money to spend $700+ on one graphics card, the price for performance gets significantly worse the higher end card you buyReally? Everywhere I've seen or heard of these two cards, the 1080 was always the most favored purchase.
1080ti will probably come out in 2017. But if I were you, I'd stick with that 980ti for at least a couple more years. The only reason I'm upgrading now is because my current GPU is a reference GTX 570.Wasn't enough gain in reviews over a 980ti to encourage me to make the switch. Ill wait to see what comes about by December or if they release a ti model.
If SLI had better stability i would do that but honestly, with my setup, i still push 60fps+ on anything I play, im not a resolution gamer, but a fps gamer. 2k+ monitors are just stupid expensive for what they are for the time being. 1080P upscaled to 1440 is about as far as i go anyhow. The biggest advantage tho is cuda core video rendering.1080ti will probably come out in 2017. But if I were you, I'd stick with that 980ti for at least a couple more years. You have to find the sweet spot which is why the majority of people will buy a 1070 instead
Just take a look at a recent valve hardware survey

Of course there is architectural improvements and whatnot, but I was not talking about that at all. Whatever happened to the reason why I would rather wait for the 1080ti over the 1080? Clearly you know better than me about the specifications, however, I base my decisions on how much of a difference I see if I were to actually play a game. The benchmarks and stuff I was talking about were framerate comparisons in games, and that the gain between the 980ti and the 1080 was not enough for me to justify an upgrade, sorry if I was being misleading.Uh...the difference between 980ti and 1080 is much, MUCH larger than the difference between 980 and 980ti.
