Sakurai to showcase in-depth gameplay of Dragon Quest Hero for Smash, 4.0 patch releases Wednesday

As revealed at this year's E3, The Hero from the Dragon Quest series is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Tomorrow, director Masahiro Sakurai will be providing a 22-minute look at the latest DLC character, and will reveal when you can play as The Hero. During the announcement, Nintendo of Europe also mentioned that any replays you might have saved prior to version 3.1.0 will not work with the upcoming 4.0.0 patch, unless you convert them to video before updating. In addition, Nintendo accidentally let it slip when version 4.0.0 would be releasing, in a now-deleted Tweet that said the patch, and likely the Dragon Quest Hero along with it, would launch on July 31st.

Where do they get their characters from? So random. What's next, Fighter from Final Fantasy 1?

Would rather have Hero than Joker or Bayonetta, but that's just me.

I mean if you'd rather have a generic silent protagonist with absolutely no personality or character over two highly designed and unique characters, I think that says more about you than anything.

*shrug* It's my opinion and I stick to it. It's least it's not another lame-ass Fire Emblem waifu character.

Did you see the same character trailer we all did? Hero looks insanely unique moveset wise, and you can't expect to get every character you want. This series is too popular in Japan to not deserve being on the roster.

    designed for only specific hardware

so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
