Super Smash Bros. Ultimate video - Sakurai presents Hero from Dragon Quest, which releases today

Rather than presenting a trailer, or putting a short video at the end of a Nintendo Direct, the director of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai, has shown off the latest addition to the Smash roster: Hero, from Dragon Quest. There's over 20 minutes of footage from what Sakurai calls a development build of the game, with details on each of the variations of the Dragon Quest heroes from their respective games. In the video, we also learn which tracks from the Dragon Quest franchise will be included.

  • Adventure - Dragon Quest III
  • Fighting Spirits - Dragon Quest III
  • Battle for the Glory - Dragon Quest IV
  • Wagon Wheel's March
  • War Cry
  • Marching through the Fields
  • The Hero Goes Forth with a Determination
  • Unflinchable Courage
These aren't the only additions, either, as mii characters will also receive a few new costumes, based on the series as well. As opposed to the accidental early reveal by Nintendo's Twitter yesterday, Challenger Pack 2: Hero launches today, on the Nintendo eShop.

Apparently, the name only shows up in the SNES remake's intro. I suppose that could also explain why it's barely known of in the west (especially with how many versions/ports the game has had so far). That's fair, though at least it rolls off the tongue easier than constantly having to say Warrior of Light or Onion Knight all the time when compared to old FF games. (It's a shame that the latter didn't keep his canon name nor his personality from the 3D remake when used in Dissidia and any other media).

Perhaps they'll also get a proper name someday, who knows.
I always knew the Hero as Erdrick.

It happens a lot? I honestly don't think i've ever seen anyone but Director/Producer Naoki Yoshida demonstrate new content for Final Fantasy XIV.
It's not always though. I'm not invested in FF XIV so I don't know much. Did he done it for every big update?
