The fucking Belgian Anti-piracy Federation took down my rxTools video with like 70,000 views. And I just got a strike removed...

It doesn't even violate copyright. Everything in there is legal (I think) because it has no links to piracy, and everything that's in my video is on GBAtemp somewhere and GBAtemp doesn't support piracy...
Dispute it, then. They're overstepping the legal bounds of a DMCA takedown

You don't even live in Belgium, so tell em to eat a dick and get their copyright laws away from your video.
Seriously though, that video would fall under "Fair Use" as educational. As it can be considered a learning tool, even if it is for hacking and their laws do not apply to this video. You need to dispute this.

I'm not sure if this is whats been happening with other "small" YouTubers (I would be considered tiny, they consider people with 50,000 subs small) but Leafy and a lot of others talk about it recently.

I would dispute it but I need to double check that it doesn't contain anything copyrighted... Oh wait, they blocked the video so I can't even watch it myself. Should I dispute?

Did you show anything like how to download roms or illegal files? Actually, even then it can still fall under Fair use for educational.
Youtube is still ignoring Fair Use and that has been a big deal for a rather long time now, so dispute it and fight against them. Youtube needs to respect Fair Use.

Not that I remember. This was from 2015 and it's hard to remember exactly what was put in it

It actually still doesn't matter too much so long as you don't actually provide the links in the video. You can legally show and even describe the steps required to obtaining these files, much like we use "that iso site" as a term. You can even link to files that can download those files, much like most of the CFW's do here. These are actually not illegal to do.
Since your video was intended to show people how to set up a CFW, it falls under "Fair Use," and thus they can eat it.

Normally I go the "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" mindset, but at this point, continuing to run rxTools is really depriving yourself of a lot of features, so I'd have to agree with you.
Alot of shits been broken in rxTools for along time now

Don't recommend people continue to use RXTools.
It's dead, we need to work towards getting people away from RXTools
I think he didn't tell people to continue using RXTools. He told people to get away from it.
"Get the fuck off" = "Go away", if I'm not misunderstanding.

  • linuxares @ linuxares:
One of the keyshops is 95% off at the moment (probably humble bundle keys)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
And a small percentage of keys bought with a stolen credit card.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
You never know if the key works or not, they don't provide a guarantee.
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
Sure is... and poor devs get hit with the charge backs
    +1
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Exactly.
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
Thor from "Pirate Software" said its just better to pirate the game than buy from a keyshop if you care about the devs
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
devs don't get hit with the chargebacks, the keys are free to generate
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    at least on steam
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
Except he said the DEVS get hits with the chargeback cost
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
since the key gets bought with a stolen credit card
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
there's nothing to charge back because the keys don't cost them money to generate in the first place
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
If the game has a crack sure
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Most these crack sites have dead links anymore or the crack don't even work
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
@The Real Jdbye What don't you get? If someone use a stolen creditcard. Then sell said key on G2A. If I the dev sold the game key, I will get the charge back cost. That's how it works, it doesn't matter if I generate 300 keys if 300 of them are bought with stolen credit cards. I never said it was on Steam, but its the dev that gets hit. There is a ton of stories out there if you google it.
