Uh, that doesn't matter. The only way to go online is to use Devolution, and it requires you to verify your disc in order to use an ISO. Piracy doesn't work if you want to go online, since Devolution won't boot the ISO until you insert the disc to prove you own the game.

well you need to talk to the devolution dev about it then, that isn't a nintendont issue.

There seems to be a problem I'm having with the cheats. In Kirby Air Ride, for example, when I activate these 3 cheats:

Code:
Enable Debug Menu (Press X At Start Menu) [Ralf]
045DD630 00000003

Unrestricted City Match Time
0401F580 39000001
0401F548 39000063
0401F540 2C000001
0401F578 2C000063

Less Restrictive Crash Debugger (Ralf)
044284B8 4E800020
04428514 4E800020

Most of the time, it's pretty much pure chance that the codes don't cause the game to just hang at a black screen after I load the game up when they used to work fine before. It should not be "sometimes it'll load, most of the time it'll crash." so what's the issue? Why does this happen (it does this with Melee v1.02, too).

Hi, I've been trying for HOURS to fix my issue. It's pretty simple :
I want to play Wind Waker ( GC version on normal Wii ) with DS4 controller ( aka PS4 ) I downloaded controllers.zip and found the correct vid+pid and edited some buttons to what I like ( because the default is actually horrible )
I RENAME the fie to controller.ini and I put it in my USB root. ( i can't launch HIDTest for some reason. it keeps telling me no config file found or something like that. )
I launch the game, my controller works, but not a single BUTTON HAS BEEN CHANGED. NAtive controller is off, i connected my controller with USB, and I even tried both USB alone AND SD alone. Clearly something is going wrong here. someone PLEASE. help me out. ( the controller works fine, i just want to edit my button inputs )

Things I have tried : Delete controllers folder after downloading controllers.zip - Try individually SD & USB - Pressing " Share " ( aka select ) in-game ( doesn't bring up anything, people tell me it's supposed to let me edit stuff ) - the file is NOT .ini.ini ( my extension box is enabled )
The Share button doesn't let you edit stuff. All it does is rotate the A, B, X and Y button assignments 90 degrees. I do this for certain games.

Cheat codes are usually specific to the version of the game and not all codes work on Nintendont since Nintendont uses memory patches which can change the memory location of various things rendering any codes using RAM location specific codes incompatible and can cause unintended side effects such as the game crashing.

For those games the cheat codes may have to be altered to account for the new memory location where what you are trying to modify exists.

Also some codes just don't work well with other active codes.

I was thinking about it, is Nintendont the best emulator ever? It's gotta be one of them, almost 100% compatibility and let's you use all the different controllers and peripherals the Gamecube had.

Nintendont is NOT an emulator. It translates GC code into Wii native code. Only certain things are emulated but not the game itself.

Ah, but there is another option. We can just ask Ralf! ;)

PAL PSO has a progressive mode patch now that works in Devolution. :D All I have to do is set up the patcher for it.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though

    I appreciate the insight!
