Layton has one of the best undub works I saw for a game. I prefer the Undub version of him a 1000 times more over his japanese voice.

Quoting and changing my phrase... I meant his Dub voice...

...Aahh okay :/ "Undub" generally means when you put the japanese voices back into the game, "Dub" means the english voices, so i got confused :wtf:

I don't know where you got your information from, but sales have been fine for it... You obviously have no idea how successful Studio Ghibli is. Even the movies that haven't been so good have still sold amazingly well, purely because of who made them. Learn to provide some mother loving sources if you're going to just talk poo.

I'm not sayin' that Studio Ghibli is not successful. I love all of their productions and just can't wait till it will be relesed in USA or Europe. You want sources? Here they are:

.....that's all just speculation though. Even at quarter price, they still make a profit, yet it's still more than half price, so they're easily making a profit, and at ~65% of shipped units sold at that point, that's a rather strong sales record for the ds. Honestly, by all accounts, it's a success =\ I still don't see how it hasn't done so well, especially given that it is aimed at a somewhat selective market.

If anybody is wondering, this game did freaking fantastic in Japan. Although we may see it on the DS, there may not be a confirmation for a long while. I mean, just look at the speed of Layton localizations.

Regardless, even if somebody does translate the game, the booklet is still a roadblock of sorts, as there is no easy way to translate that in a manner that everybody could use. I have to wonder if any translation team would be willing to undertake such a beast of a game at this point too.

I really hope Level 5 does end up localizing this game. It was one of my most anticipated games especially since Studio Ghibli is one of my favourite animation studios while Level 5 is one of my favourite developers.

I would love for this game to be translated. That would be fucking awesome.

But the japanese voices will go away in an official translation. Like they did for Layton, and the result was so lame.
At least if some fans translated the game, it would keep its original voices.
For this kind of stuff:
Undub > Translation
This explains everything.

''Ooo nooo no english tranlsation so we needa make a english text translation w/o english voices!!! put back teh japanese voices because it soundz soooo cooool!! and english voices sounds lame!!!!!!!!!!!''

Anyway I can't wait for Ninokuni

I think the only community that seems fit for such work are the diehard Mother fans. The sad thing here is that if this game was Mother 4, they'd easily tackle it.

Then we have to hope that Level-5's US departments gets fully up and running soon, because the only one doing their localizations are Sony and Nintendo respectively.

wow this game looks absolutely dreamy !!

I'd buy it in a heartbeat ! no matter how much, just the concept of a book with it, can you imagine the work?! loving it !

Someone said it was from a movie? is it that good that i should watch it?

I wouldnt mind trying both the localized and the undubbed version really, to compare, I remember i did it for Bleach and the undebbed version won. But yes Layton was pretty much a perfect dub. But i see so many actors i like voicing Ni no Kuni, i really want to try the undub. I hope someone does a lil tutorial here once it's out.

I see it has wifi, wonder what exactly we'll be able to do with that. Nintendo needs to be spanked for not getting the wifi to work with windows 7 yet !! Wake up nintendo !!
Well in the article saying it would get localized they sounded pretty categoric, so i think it will come out !

We didn't hear anything about it at E3. We never even heard they mention anything since that article. I think we should accept already that it won't come state side. I'll just put my faith on a translation patch.

I don't think they care much about DS anymore. They may think it's better release the localization of Layton on 3DS. About the book, can we find someone who's willing to scan it and make a pdf out of it?

The book has been out as a pdf since the game was dumped. If you had any intentions of playing the game because you knew Japanese or something, you would still need the book if you pirated it. Like I said though, don't totally lose hope. The rate of the Layton localizations is absolutely horrible. Japan has had all of the Layton games on the DS for a fairly long time now, and if I'm mistaken, there is still one more of them that still needs to be localized. This may be one localized, or at least announced a year or so from now as kind of a late hit for the DS (since 3DS owners could still play it anyways).

This game is hardly going to be released on the DS in the West. The DS doesn't even exist anymore let alone in a year or two. What they meant when they confirmed the release overseas was that the PS3 version was going to be released. You can sit down and wait if you think you're going to see this on the DS in english.

I can't help with the translation but I would be VERY interested in a translation patch for this, I really would like to play this. If I were you, if you have the means to translate this, I would do it because you probably won't get this game in english. Only the PS3 version.

But I sure hope I am wrong.

Both the DS and PS3 version are confirmed for a localization stateside, so anyone saying there is no hope for a localization just wasted their time writting those postsé. They said we shouldn't expect it soon. Just because something isn't announced at E3 doesn't mean it's not coming. There are 365 or 366 days in a year and they can announce it on any of them.

Patience, Level 5 are known to be as slow as hell. Even White Knight Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles 2 have taken a long time to come out. Hell, WKC2 is still not out in North America.

If you got a source where they say explicitly they're releasing the DS version on the DS in the West then sure, otherwise I don't really think they're gonna release a game for a system a year or two after a superior one is out.

The same will happen with the Inazuma Eleven games. Even Layton won't be relased on the DS anymore after the next one.

I'd just like to point out a problem in your statements there.

"I don't really think they're gonna release a game for a system a year or two after a superior one is out."

Have you ever paid any attention to the gaming industry at all? It usually takes at least two or three years for a preceding generation to slowly wrap up game production and move on entirely to the next. Point of interest - PlayStation 2 games consoles are /still/ being manufactured, 11 years after the console was released, and nearly 5 years after its successor, the PlayStation 3, was released.

For a more relevant example, the Game Boy Advance had its last game released in February of 2008, seven years after console release, and four years after the Nintendo DS was released. Keep in mind that the DS has had a much larger sales success at the same time too.

Tl;dr - there really is no basis whatsoever for your statement there, nor your doubts regarding a Western release of this game.

That's absolutely true but how many big games have you seen on the PS2 two years after the PS3 was already on the market? And on the gameboy? The games you see released are small games with small budgets and some leaps of faith like Persona 4 which ended up being one of the best games on the platform. If you do pay attention to the industry you should've at least understand the type of games that are released years after the system is "overthrown". Besides Level 5 has already shown it wants to move onto the 3DS.

It's not like I win something for saying it won't be released I sure hope it will be it's just that... it's not very likely.
