Upcoming PlayStation Network title Record of Agarest War may sound tempting to fans of strategy RPGs, but if you've got a 20GB system (or even a 60GB system), you may want to be careful.

Why? Because a representative from the game's North American publisher, Aksys Games, has revealed that the download-only title will be between eight and ten gigs in size. That's one hell of a big download.

Won't be a problem for anyone with a more recent system (80, 120, 250), but man, an 8-10GB download...it doesn't seem so long ago Microsoft were trying to keep online games under 50mb.

My question:

WHY THE FUCK DON'T YOU JUST RELEASE IT AS A RETAIL GAME ON A BLURAY DISC?

I mean seriously. Downloading 8GB isn't going to be quick, people. Unless you've got super speedy internet. And if the game sucks in the end, you just wasted a huge chunk of your hard drive and a long time of your life downloading this.

Agreed. Utterly ridiculous. No one has a blazing fast connection speed that's stable enough to support a download of that size

When I'm downloading 10 demos on my PS3 I'm downloading a lot more. I just leave the downloads running in the background, and all of them are ready in no time. 10 GB is a lot, but for me it's not a big deal.

Then again, my internet is pretty fast. They should also release this on BR for people who don't want to download it.

I can't see everyone having to leave it on all day, 5-7 hours maybe, Burnout Paradise was 4GB and took me 3 hours to download, but i think it would of been a lot easier to release on a Blu-Ray disk.

Quickie question for the Aussies out there.

I know you have broadband limits per month (right?). Do downloads over a console (like Wii's VC/WiiWare, PSN, etc) affect this? Because downloading a 10GB thing would blow it out of the water.

Seriously, I want to grab that sausage in the picture and slap the publishers of this game with it. What the fuck were you thinking?

I live near Aus so i'll take this question. Well, Aus and NZ do have broadband limits (Aus having a lot more data than NZ) But there are unlimited usage plans starting to pop up. We just switched to one about a month ago but the downloading is capped like crazy. And ofcourse the Wiiware and PSN downloads affect your limits.

Exactly what I was going to say, we in Belgium have very bad internet, it's not that slow (around 400 kb/s) but we can only download 30GB per month.
Yes, 30GB.
It just goes away so fast, I could never download a game like this for my (non-existent) PS3.
Fucking ISP's, such a rip-off!

This is going to take around 5 hours to download and look at Phantasy Star Portable 2 it's a nearly 1.5 GB PSN download and that's a lot for a PSP game. Good thing my PS3 is the 120 GB version.

If this becomes the norm I think I am going to have to swap the HD in my 80gb to a 512gb drive.

Glad you can back them up easily!

So?
Killzone 2 was 13GB.
lol, what PSN has Killzone 2 available?

Anyway, 10 gigabytes isn't a big deal if you've got patience, and you're not in Australia or Belgium.

Don't know what game this is but I really want to see 3d Dot Heroes, THAT looks like a good game. I swear I saw a clip that looked like a 3d NES Zelda game.

Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)
