From Digital Foundry:

"Upon analysis we determined that the game suffers from extended clusters in which a duplicate frame is displayed every 64 frames. What this ultimately means is that, during normal gameplay, Mario Kart 8 continually drops down to 59fps. This may not seem like a big deal - most will probably not notice it at all, and it has zero affect on playability"

Yes, I cherry picked that quote.

I had read that, that's why I'm asking if Nintendo would fix this.

So even though Australia never got a specified release date for the DLC, it's out now. I assumed it would have been out Saturday since we tend to get things a day after Europe and they're getting it on the 14th.

Now it's 11PM and I don't have the funds and am getting withdrawals of not having new tracks to play on for the next day at least.

Question: Those who don't have the DLC content can they still play with people who do?

No. If all the racers have the DLC then the DLC tracks can be selected online. If just 1 racer does not have the DLC then they are not available. Though, according to nintendolife.com, there ahould now be a 'DLC only' lobby which you need to go to to play the DLC tracks online

Questions to those who have played it already ...

a) what are the new 'themed' tracks like ?
b) how big is the download ?

I'm from Australia and it was just released over here a few hours ago. I've been testing out all the new tracks and I think their great. Loving the zelda track! Haven't had a chance to take them online and probably won't until the rest of you have them.
The download was about 700mb so it was actually smaller than I was expecting.

Better yet: Super Smash Kart!!

Nintendo really needs to change the title of Mario Kart to something else or at least have a subtitle than just a number as it doesn't look very creative.

I suspect unless you were a big fan of the original, SNES Rainbow Road will probably be the worst of the bunch (not for me though, I LOVED that track back in the day!)
Excite Bike track is good fun but maybe a bit gimmicky, I suspect once I've had a few more goes it'll get boring....

The rest of them though, well they range from fabulous to off-the-fukkin-radar - Mute City just needed a loop and it would probably have been perfection: Dragon Driftway? Oh dear lord is that a heap of awesome..... Hyrule Circuit is not quite up there with the best ones, but still a worthy track!
