Logitech's new cloud handheld gaming device releases next month, will retail for $350

A recent leak saw the existence of Logitech's new gaming handheld spoiled before the company could officially announce it, but nearly a month later, Logitech is ready to officially unveil the G Cloud Handheld gaming device. Retailing for $349.99, the Android-based handheld goes all-in on game streaming: it supports GeForce Now, Xbox xCloud streaming, and Valve's Steam Link. Since it runs Android, it can also play mobile games, though Logitech is mostly refraining from that aspect in its marketing. This handheld exists as part of a collaboration with Tencent, who assisted in creating the Android UI for the system.

The Logitech G Cloud Handheld sports a 1080p IPS touchscreen, with a Snapdragon 720G inside, alongside 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 64GB of storage. Despite the claims of portable game streaming, the device lacks SIM support, so you'll need to rely on only Wi-Fi to stream. Beyond that, the handheld has a 12-hour battery life, a gyroscope, and haptics.

Logitech's device will be out on October 17th, and will retail for $349.99--the same price as a Nintendo Switch OLED. If you pre-order the system, you'll get a discount, putting it at $299.99.

...$350 for a portable gaming device that can only really play streamed games.

The need for a stable internet connection to stream any of these games kinda makes it not at all portable. So, yeah... It's a $350 portable device that isn't actually portable.

I'm sorry, but how is this a better deal than a Steam Deck at $400? Correction, how is this a better deal than ANY oh... sub $100 tablet?

I was one of the very few people defending this thing, because cloud gaming from your own console can be very useful and fun. But for $350…? No SIM support?

Who’s this thing for, exactly? Because it sure isn’t for any adult with a phone and a controller, or people who can’t afford decent phones, or kids who can already play better games on mobile than cloud gaming, or players on-the-go due to the lack of SIM card slot. Is this supposed to be something you use at home? Is this supposed to be an iPad Mini competitor if said iPad Mini was only going to be used for that? I mean sure, it’s $200 cheaper I guess…?

Already have an OLED Switch and a Lite one. Beside the WiFi only "streaming" and a widely available Android gaming experience -which I'm not very interested on-, for a ~$350 USD device, I'd say that this is a useless expensive thing.

Not for me. Thanks, but no thanks. Next!

This is double the price of a Xiaomi phone with better specs. DOA.
It might be an even more useless product than the "emulation portables" at this price point, and that is an amazing feat.

Edit, for comparison sake:

My current cellphone (Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC) bought in 07/09/2020 ($300 back then, TWO YEARS AGO):

OS: Android 11
Screen: IPS LCD, 120Hz, HDR10, 450 nits (typ) 1080x2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~395 ppi density) [Double G Cloud's Ref. Rate, wider resolution]
CPU: Snapdragon 732G (8 nm) [5% better than G Cloud's 720G]
Storage: 128GB [Double G Cloud's 64GB Storage]
RAM: 8GB [Double G Cloud's 4GB RAM]
Battery: 5160 mAh [~12% larger than G Cloud's 4620mAh battery]
Wifi: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot [Same bands, better options]
Mobile: 2G to 4G (GSM/ HSPDA/ LTE) [G Cloud has no mobile support]

The current Xiaomi Poco X4 GT ($329, RIGHT NOW, gonna be my next phone soon-ish):
OS: Android 12
Screen: IPS LCD, 144Hz, HDR10, Dolby Vision, 500 nits (typ), 1080x2460 pixels (~407 ppi density) [140% faster refresh rate compared to G Cloud's, wider resolution]
CPU: MediaTek Dimensity 8100 (5 nm) [125% better than G Cloud's 720G]
Storage: 256GB [4x G Cloud's 64GB]
RAM: 8GB [Double G Cloud's 4GB]
Battery: 5080 mAh [~10% larger than G Cloud's 4620mAh battery]
Wifi: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax(6), dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot [Support for WiFI 6]
Mobile: 2G to 5G (GSM/ HSPDA/LTE/NS) [Support for 5G]

Do you know one Cloud Gaming Project, that isn't dead after a short time? I think this is just one more.

I have bought many logitech products, since according to me they are the cheapest there are or at least here where I live and the truth is, their quality is acceptable but I would not buy a console that needs to have the same power as my smartphone and for $350
