L4T Ubuntu
Intro
L4T Ubuntu is a version of Linux based on nvidia's linux for tegra project. It uses a different kernel compared to previous releases which allows it to use features not yet in mainline. Such as audio, docking support and vulkan.

Has anyone managed to compile moonlight-qt on Ubuntu L4T ?

I tried several times, nothing seems to work. I read somewhere that some people managed to get it working...

Anyone have any instructions on how to get this darn thing to work ?

Hey everyone,

I created account here to post a bit and help get linux on switch better.
First up great work OP for bringing ubuntu to the switch really like it.

I figured I play around with it and try something with it. Playing windows games on the switch using ubuntu sounds fun. So I did some research on topic, since I am a Linux Gamer anyway.
Wine has an ARM-build availiable see here: (due to restrictions I cant post links here so just remove the space in the link and copy it into the adress bar); wiki. winehq. org/ARM64

The article above states that it seems really possible to run winx86 programms using emulation. So here is the next article: wiki. winehq. org/Emulation

I did some testing on the last method listed in the article above using hangover (can be found here: github. com / AndreRH/ hangover)

I nearly got it to compile on the switch (which takes some time) though I still run into some errors with mingw. So maybe someone here would like to help me get up and running and write a little guide on how get this up and running on the switch?

Every help is appreciated. Though don't get your hopes that high. since some games seem to work but the switch hardware will limit the possibilities quite hard. My dream would be to get some visual novels running on the switch.

I can't really help but I appreciate your efforts !

Did you fix the issue with this? https://github.com/AndreRH/hangover/issues/23

Also, most non-trivial programs do not work correctly on Hangover due to unthunked/unimplemented functions.

I've been trying pretty much since this came out and haven't been able to get qt to work, think some people have managed to get embedded to work but I haven't tried yet.

Joycons feel all right (and there's right click) by following the recommendation a couple of pages before even after reboot (ie once synced they're ok connected to the console forever).

The onboard keyboard is not accurate enough to touchtype but can be improved by setting preferences to single-touch, delay to max and motion threshold to 0 (can type faster without repppppeating keys)

plex web streaming via chronium works great with 720p transcoding (better than plex add-on in Kodi)

@bylaws can u help me?

i'm having some problems here.
burned the image to my sd card, loaded hekate and after select the "L4T" option in more configs, my screen goes black (switch still turned on) and after some seconds or a minute, it reboots to RCM again. Tried several times and just the time it takes to reboot changes. What i'm doing wrong?

I have the same problem. Let's team up, maybe also have a chat. I'm trying to resolve this issue but till now 2 SD and some trials didn't work at all.
I've tried a 128 GB SAMSUNG EVO PLUS and 64 GB SAMSUNG EVO PLUS SD cards.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)

    run h2testw on it

yes looks like an faulty sd
