How come there's a release in the making? We're only at 46% completion, the translation hasn't been cleaned and I haven't dumped the database yet (since it's not complete).

FAST, if u can, try the xdelta patched rom with an R4 (or something that boots clean roms)...see if it works. if it works, then NOTHING is wrong with xdelta.

If you read the thread, you'll see that most people think that most of what's not translated is not essential, and don't want to wait until it gets translated.
It's possible to make a release without the dumped database, just looking at the site where you can see the translations (you just have to remove the duplicates). It's not ideal, but if we have to wait until 100% translation to get the database dump, we may never get the patch...

I just want to say that the work you guys are doing is amazing

. I know several people who love this game and really wish it was in English. I believe most people feel the same way that I do in that the biggest translation request is for the menus and the komas for deck building. The other things would be really nice though. I really wish I could help with this undertaking, but I don't know Japanese at all nor anything about ROM programming. You all will be worshiped at the end of this

Menus + Items and what should be translated, along with the names and stuff.

BTW, is it hard to translate the missions? What I mean is the mission descriptions.

@beautifulbeast I was just messing around with some stuff copy, converting and pasting by hand, a "release" is still some ways off as you say.

@silvershadow it is not xdeltas fault but the methods I used to alter the rom, I only have GBA slot cards anyhow.

@HipN it is all being done, menus are mainly graphical though.
As for missions they are done:

I agree with Mithrandir. A patch with the Menus, Komas, Characters and Missions translated would be more than good!
I know the guys who are leading the project must be tired of the ignorance and rush of the other comunity members, but it is hard for us to understand the point in advance the project is.

I don´t know if I got it right, but reading the thread it seemed like something got wrong with the programs used for the ROM hacking or something like this (I mean by this the whole discussion about X-Delta, NINJA and things that I really don´t get).

And, there is another thing that makes people get the wrong idea. By the rating on the website, the major part of the essential stuff is more than 90% clear. That makes people anxious, like a pre-release or something like that.

I think Consigliori hit it right that about 90% of the essential stuff looks completed. Looking at the individual bins, the majorly incomplete sections are mostly names, move descriptions, character names, koma abilities, and the historical data on the mangas and characters. Looks like Wikipedia is going to be the translators' best friend for these.

To everyone asking relentlessly for a pre-patch though, just relax - the translators are doing their best. Just let them go at their own pace. I'm just as anxious for it, but I'd rather get a quality job than a rushed one.

As for the whole patching thing (xdelta, NINJA, etc.) as long as a working patch gets made, it can be later adapted for other flash carts even if it's limited to a select number of carts. I think it's too early to start worrying about making a universal patch that works with all carts.

That's just my two cents worth.

It will be a great day when this is released. Then all will be like "sweet". And I can say I saw it happen on gbatemp. One man had an idea, and a community came together and made something great. You have all done something great, keep up the good work.

I also agree about the pre-release, but I can wait longer. From what's been said about the progress, it looks like it's going great, and honestly, I didn't expect it to get this far. Great job, guys, and keep up the great work!

Once this patch is finished, will it interfere with online play at all? Could you play with someone that has a clean version?

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
