To add to my belief that he only managed to dump the save, I googled "NDS Adapter Plus" (The tool he listed as a success) and found this post on a forum:

Neither the NDS Adapter, nor the Plus model will backup ROMs. They're meant exclusively for backing up game saves. Here's the official manufacturer's site:

You know how the screen shows an icon of the inserted game before you start in the regular DS menu? I'm guessing he took a picture of that...
