Having been married for 7.5 years myself, truer words have never been spoken here. It's a rough transistion that first year, no matter how much you love a person. Some people just don't survive it.Great idea to propose on Christmas ... just..... not this year.
like FAST said, I hope you've known each other for a lot longer before dating. 6 months is really short compared to the rest of your life.
I'm 26, been married for almost 5 years now and I can say I got lucky. I got married too young, but I really caught a great gal and the transition from "OMG LOVE" to "family member" has gone great.
Because there WILL be a transition like this. Expect it.
My older sister and her husband were together for like close to 10 years before they got married. And all that did was basically prove that they can put up with each other's bullshit.
If her dad is pushing you, then just simply say "I would like to get my life and career settled down first, that way I can take care of her".
Makes me wish we were living back in the old days. Getting a life sorted out meant just being able to cut firewood and hunt, and work the fields >=(

Ideas on proposing my girlfriend of 6 months?
For real??? Not only is six months a damn short amount of time, but having her dad pressuring you into proposing is a sure sign to GTFO ASAP. This is crazy town.Hm, you guys are right. The thing is, we both love each other so much and her dad is pushing me into proposing since he really thinks I'm suitable for his daughter. I'm currently trying to get admitted into a university since I moved here from Arkansas, so I think I am going a bit to fast. I should focus on my education and get me set for the new country I am in and spend time with my girlfriend and my family as life passes, and I should wait a few months. Thank you guys!!!
