How to Install Project Mirai DX Mix Edition (Luma Method)

How to Install Project Mirai Mix Edition Using A PC
For This tutorial I will be using the Luma game patching and it's folders for the mod

Step 1
Go to this link
mega.nz/
#!WxcU1SDA!oWFhlqwkkSNs2pCP71Vu1fRlmMNZlpKyKI-_X0V8CYs

I am a new user so you must copy the link and paste it into your browsers address bar
And download the archive
Step 2
Mount Your 3ds or 2ds sd card and goto luma/titles and make a folder named
0004000000148C00
It Must be named this or the mod will not work!!!!!!
open the downloaded archive and extract all the files to a place you can access easily like your desktop
Now take the folder that contains this file structure inside of it

aet_en (folder)
nwbin (folder)
pv (folder)
sound (folder)
game_db.txt

and select everything in that folder and goto your folder on your sd card and make one in it called romfs and put everything you copied inside it and you sould be done!
Final step
unmounts the sd card and put it back in your ds if you need to!
Reboot you ds into luma config and make sure game patching is enabled and when everything is good restart and play mirai dx! Your game should be Patched!

Hey, i'm having trouble applying the mod. I'm using the european version so i've changed the folder name to the european one, but i don't have the game_db.txt in the archive. I've tried dumping the game from my cartridge to my SD card, with no changes..
Thanks!

Alternative Instructions:
1. Download Mix Edition 1.1, Mix Edition Beta, or Mix Edition 2 Demo from their respective download links in their threads. The Mix Edition Beta thread also includes a download for the Youtaite Edition (aka English Utaite Edition) mod.

2. Rename the folder containing the "aet_en" "nwbin" "pv" and "sound" folders to "romfs". This folder might not contain all the folders listed, and might or might not have additional files.

3. Use this layeredfs patching guide. It's instructions on where to put the files is cleaner than the op, and it's universal.

If you have the EU or JP versions of the game, and use the title id for the US version of the game listed in the op, it will not patch your game. This game has different title ids for each region. The layeredfs patching guide has a link to a 3ds title id database where you can search for the title id you need.

The JP version is known to be finicky with patches for the Western versions, and might not work for you, compatibility with the Korean version of the game is unknown.

Please beware of the volume of the songs, they're super loud and sound a little bad in quality while the rest of the game keeps it's normal volume and sound quality.:hateit:

Where do I create the file called Romfs? Is it made in 0004000000148C00 or the root of the sd card?

See the layeredfs patching guide linked in the first half of this reply. (Step 3 only)

Also if anyone knows the song list for this Mirai DX mod please dm it to me.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
