Just tried it out, a few critiques:

- The notes are not in sync with the song, they seem about half a second ahead of where it should be.
- Notes are missing or improperly placed. The note layout does not match what is seen in FoF for PC.
- Too many sounds interfering with the music, it sounds like I'm in a casino. You could do with options to turn off crowd sounds, the multiplier up sound, the score counting sound, all of it.
- The graphics are sub par, just go ahead and use graphics from the Guitar Hero III theme for FoF. It will look a hell of a lot better and save a lot of time.
- There needs to be an option for a static background image during songs.

this is a very good start and I would love to see it continue to develop.

I wish you all the best teq. We just need some small improvements in the code and this homebrew will blossom into something I could spend entirely too much time on.

Yeah, so far, this is what I hope to work on:

Bugs:

+Individual notes that make up a chord can be struck without it counting as a miss.
+Timing causes a succession of notes to overlap.
+Crowd noise/BG music drowns out the song.
+Downstrum on song selection screen sticks.
+Long strings of notes causes the renderer to grind, making it impossible to play well.

Features/Improvements:

+Sync adjustment
+Option Remove/Replace background image
+Option to disable crowd noise
+Deeper folder support
+USB Mass Storage support
+Volume control for main track, guitar track, and rhythm track
+Skinning of "gems"/user interface; replace default interface with something updated
+Star power bar
+Multiplayer over WiFi (possibly?)

If it's possible. The way the program reads the .mid's need to be improved. It doesn't seem to read the bpm of each chart, which causes the notes to display incorrectly. The board seems to come down at the same speed for each song, no matter what. I think this is why the ho/po's are displaying incorrectly. Note's that are supposed to be ho/po are displaying as strummed notes. Just thought i'd throw that out there. This is my most played piece of homebrew, by FAR...

Are you using official Guitar Hero songs?

All of the HOs and POs work for me.

I am. I know ho/po's are there. But they are in no way displayed correctly, As they are displayed in the real GH game or in FoF for that matter. I've did a comparison with my GH3 Custom, FoF and GuitarFun. On GH3 and FoF, the songs that i tested (all GH songs), the notes display the same and correctly. In Guitar Fun, it's not the same. I really don't think GuitarFun is reading the bpm's of the charts correctly AND it's not accounting for the bpm change during the song as well. With alot of these songs, bpm changes occur constantly in the chart. Even strings of notes don't display correctly sometimes, meaning that the notes aren't evenly spaced. I'll try to take screen shots and show you what i mean.

EDIT: To see what im talking about quciker . For example.. Play Franenstein (from GH1) on Expert in FoF. and then play it in GuitarFun on Expert. and notice the HUGE difference. It's totally different.

Can someone please tell me what to do exactly? I'm new to this homebrew stuff.

The .rar in the first message contains a .wad file and a .rar file.

The .rar contains the guitar fun map, the manual and a .dol file.

Now my question is: I have put the guitar fun map in an "apps" map on my SD card as suggested by the homebrew launcher. What do I do with the .wad and .dol file? Do I use them for anything?

Thanks!

Rammoth,

If you have the homebrew channel installed, you should be able to create a GuitarFun folder in the apps folder (not the one from the RAR) and put the DOL (from the rar) in it. Then rename the DOL to "boot.dol". You can also place an icon and an XML file in this folder for the Homebrew channel. (even a simple copy of an xml from another homebrew channel folder to this one and edit it's contents will suffice)

Then take the GuitarFun folder from the RAR and place it in the Root of the SD Stick. In that folder should be the Songs and Bitmap folders (among a few files as well). That is where you will place your songs, etc.

You don't need the WAD if you are using the DOL. (that is an alternate install option to create it's own Wii channel I believe, if you didn't have the Homebrew channel, or didn't want to launch it via the HB Channel, etc.).

Hope this makes some sense,
~DarkWolfNine
