Wow, this is cool :D

I have some questions though. If this is a hypervisor... Uhh, does that mean it's not emulating the GBA? Like, running them natively similar to Nintendont? What would be the limitations of this?

But, awesome work :3

EDIT: oh, and also, if this is the proper place to ask, will performance increase if ran on 3DS with TWL speeds on, or will it not affect it at all due to not being a regular emulator? (Which ties in with one of my above questions) @Gericom

*Normmatt. Normmatt's open-source GBA BIOS replacement is derived from the source code of VBA-M.

Wow, I'm surprised and very happy to see this! Good luck!

EDIT: just tested Pokémon Emerald on a DSiXL through the build posted above, and here are the results:
-sound and music are slightly off, there are some noises in the background;
-background is pink instead of black when inside a building; TVs are also pink;
-the game seems to enter a loop when going into a wild battle, it just plays the bugged music and the screen flickers, eventually freezing;
-due to the XL's larger screen (I believe), things that should be off screen are appearing (minor problem).

The speed is amazing though, definitely better than gbaemu4ds.

First of all awsome emulator i wasnt expected it was this good so far, just tested F-Zero Maximum Velocity and it runs fullspeed, it only has minor menu glitchs and some sound effects missing but overall it runs great, plus i doesnt save. Does emulator create save files yet? need to test more games once i get home :) great work

It does not yet save to your sd indeed.

Don't suppose there's any chance we could get a binary release of this to play around with, is there? Given that no commits have been made for a week or two, seems like a reasonable milestone to do a few more tests with.

Fascinating project.

I have to make it load the bios from your sd card, so I don't have to distribute it inside the rom. Also, I'm a bit busy with my study.

Edit: Well, it turned out not to be very difficult, so here you go (I updated github aswell, you need to put bios.bin in the root of your sd):

@Gericom : very nice ! Would it help you to create an online spreadsheet to report games tested ? Everyone could write on it.

A 5 columns spreadsheet with these infos :

Game name :
Region :
Build tested (GitHub commit ID) :
Playable : Yes, perfectly / Yes, partially / No
Comments :

Any important info Im missing ?

nice, i thought this was a homebrew game when i read the thread name on the list, thought it was like some mario runner or something like that
glad we still got people trying to make a emulator for gba using a DS cart. and it's great it's built in assembly!

will you make it a port DSI enhanced? because in the old DS we have slot 2, and in 3ds we got homebrew for 3ds..
so it would be great if we would see a port that takes advantage of dsi extra stuff, IIRC we now can launch homebrew on a dsi?

Made this wiki page : https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/GBARunner2

@Gericom : you mentionned you used hacks over the bios... what's the MD5 of the BIOS you are using ?
Thanks for making that page. I'll put it in the first post.
The MD5 is A860E8C0B6D573D191E4EC7DB1B1E4F6

Thanks!

I might look into enabling the dsi features later on. I don't have a dsi or a 3ds to test it on though (only a ds lite), so that makes it harder for me to do that.

real hardware is best. but you can use nocashgba, it now has dsi mode and documention on dsi, the developer version is free,i think you may be able to use that for your "tinkering"
